Dear Friends,
After an exciting election night in which we were in a tie with my opponent, the election results did not turn out as we had hoped. I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the unwavering support you have shown throughout our campaign.
While we may not have achieved our intended outcome, it's important to remember that our democracy thrives on participation, and your engagement in the electoral process is a testament to the strength of our community. I am truly humbled by the trust you placed in me as your King County Councilmember candidate. Throughout this campaign, I have had the opportunity to meet so many incredible individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference in King County.
I would also like to express my gratitude to the countless volunteers and supporters who dedicated their time, energy, and resources to our campaign. It is your dedication and hard work that helped us get 27,243 votes, with more still being counted.
While I will not have the opportunity to serve as your Councilmember, I will continue to work tirelessly to help keep our neighborhoods safe, address the drug abuse epidemic, and find real solutions for the homeless crisis. Your support during the campaign has shown me that you share these concerns, and I promise to do everything in my power to champion them on your behalf.
This election may mark the end of my candidacy, but it does not signify the end of our collective efforts to make King County a safer, healthier, more equitable, and thriving place to live.
Once again, thank you for your support, your trust, and your commitment to our shared vision. I am grateful for having had the opportunity to serve as your candidate, and I look forward to continuing to be a part of our shared journey.
Thank you,
Sofia Aragon for King County Council District 8

• Keeping our neighborhoods safe by taking common-sense public safety measures, like having enough police officers to serve our county
• Finding pragmatic solutions to the substance abuse crisis, where Washington is experiencing the fastest-rising number of overdoses in the nation
• Taking real action on homelessness by reforming the King County Regional Homelessness Authority to ensure everyone gets the housing and care they need

Proud to have the sole endorsement if the Seattle Times, "Aragon, Burien's mayor, has the ability to articulate her vision for the county in layman's terms, void of political jargon, proving she's still grounded in her community."

Thank you to Harry Chan, owner of Seattle's oldest Chinese restaurant, Tai Tung, for hosting a lunch for me to hear community leaders' public policy priorities. Leaders in historic preservation, business, family associations, block watch, and media tell me public safety, equitable investment, and homelessness and affordable housing are top of mind.
