This week Mayor Katie B. Wilson awarded Seattle Film Commissioner Tom Florino the 2026 Mayor’s Film Industry Award for Outstanding Achievement in Film, which celebrates those who have significantly contributed to Seattle’s film industry, during the opening night celebration for the Seattle International Film Festival.

As a member of the Seattle Film Commission, Florino actively works to shape the strategy and advance initiatives designed to grow the industry, including the Seattle Commercial Film Production Initiative. For his leadership and impact across Seattle’s film and commercial production industries, Tom Florino of Amazon received the Mayor’s Film Award for Outstanding Achievement in Film – Industry Award. At Amazon, Florino ensures the company is contributing at the highest level of the Washington State Film Incentive Program through Washington Filmworks, strengthening the financial foundation of production and expanding opportunities for local crews and businesses.

“The Puget Sound region has been Amazon’s home for more than 30 years, and we’re proud to be part of the creative community that makes this region so vibrant,” said Tom Florino. We’re also proud to support Washington Filmworks, the Seattle Film Commission, and the continued growth of film, TV, and commercial production here. Creators are entrepreneurs and innovators as much as they are artists, and we believe a thriving local economy that welcomes investment strengthens the community we all share.”

We hope you are safe and not impacted by the string of recent film production business robberies. Seattle Office of Economic Development Director Beto Yarce sent this to film production business owners today. Be vigilant and safe!

Film production companies:

We are aware of several recent burglaries at film production businesses. The Seattle Police Department is conducting an active and ongoing investigation.

The Mayor’s Office, Seattle Police Department, and Office of Economic Development are tracking this issue. SPD has an active an ongoing investigation into these crimes.

Crime prevention is most successful when it’s in partnership with the City, and we encourage you to consider preventative measures to help prevent crime and vandalism. You may be eligible for reimbursements for increased security measures through the Back to Business Program Storefront Security Fund after you complete a security assessment with an SPD Crime Prevention Coordinator.

If your film business or organization has recently been the victim of a crime, please:
1 - File a Police Report at https://spdonlinereporting.seattle.gov/
2 - Contact the Seattle Police Department non-emergency line at 206-625-5011

If you have any questions, please contact Office of Economic Development Film Program Manager Chris Swenson at [email protected] or 206-637-4414.
