Pitt Faculty Organizers Decry Chancellor’s Refusal to Comply with Labor Board Subpoena Faculty union organizers condemned Chancellor Patrick Gallagher’s refusal to fully comply with a subpoena from the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board requesting information regarding the list of faculty eligible to be in a potential bargaining unit.

Unfortunately the pressure in academic research, which largely relies on grants, leads to some scientists falsifying their data. This can never be accepted, as it undermines the research community and science as a whole. Reporting such instances takes integrity and courage and it is unacceptable that people who do so face retaliation!

Sexual Harassment Training Specialist wanted!

This is an opportunity for a UAW-represented Postdoctoral Scholar to join the UW SafeCampus’ EPIC: Empowering Prevention and Inclusive Communities training program as a part-time trainer for the prevention of sexual harassment and gender discrimination. Initially designed in 2018 for graduate student Academic Student Employees with strongly positive feedback in its first year, this training is being expanded and adapted to address the needs of postdoctoral scholars. The application deadline is Thursday, August 1st.

Note that UW postdoctoral positions are expected to be full-time; the successful candidate will have 80% funding from other sources to continue their postdoctoral research work concurrent with this part-time role.
