WS Lions and Yankee Clipper- Seattle Sea Scouts & Youth Sailing crew had the pleasure of assisting The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc. at their annual picnic Camp Long today. It couldn’t have been a more beautiful day for fellowship and making new friends!

CONGRATULATIONS TO RITA AYLWARD

One of our mates, Rita Aylward, has just earned her PhD in Oceanography from the University of Washington.

Rita did her doctoral dissertation on subduction zone hydrology, studying the movement of tectonic plates deep undersea off the coast of New Zealand.

Rita got her start as a Sea Scout in the Bay Area of California, earning the rank of Able. She later moved to Seattle and joined the Yankee Clipper as an adult leader. She has extensive sailing experience including time on square riggers aboard the USCG Barque Eagle and the topsail ketch Hawaiian Chieftain.

Hats off to Rita for a job well done!
