Cracker Trail Elementary School Elementary School, Grades 1-5 The School Board of Highlands County serves over 12,000 students within our rural community.

Established in 1991 and named for its proximity to the Florida Cracker Trail, Cracker Trail Elementary School is one of Highlands County's top elementary schools. The district operates ten elementary, four middle, and three high schools. This page serves as a tool for sharing important information, emergency notices, and for highlighting the amazing faculty, staff, and students of Cracker Trail Elementary. 🚧🐎 IMPROVEMENTS HAVE STARTED AT OUR FRONT ENTRANCE! 🐎🚧

Work has begun on lengthening our turn lane entering our front gate from the south! This improvement is designed to enhance traffic flow and make arrival and dismissal smoother for our Mustang families. 💙💛

🛠️ What to Expect:

Construction will take place periodically over the next month.

Crews will make every effort to work outside of student drop-off and pick-up times.

Whenever possible, work will also be scheduled when school is not in session.

The goal is to have the new turn lane paved and completed by the end of November!

Please be aware that you may notice construction activity near our front entrance during this time. We appreciate your patience, flexibility, and cooperation as we continue making improvements to our campus.

🐎⭐ OUR SAFETY PATROLS ARE OFFICIALLY ON DUTY! ⭐🐎

A HUGE thank you to Highlands County Sheriff Paul Blackman for recently joining us to officially swear in our CTE Safety Patrols! 🚔👏

Sheriff Blackman spoke with our students about the important responsibility of being a Safety Patrol and what it means to be a leader, keep others safe, follow the rules, and set a positive example for their fellow Mustangs. He then officially swore in each of our Safety Patrols—and presented each patrol with a special challenge coin! 🪙⭐

We are so proud of these young leaders and the commitment they are making to help keep our Mustang herd safe! 🐎💙

A special thank you to our Safety Patrol sponsor, Mrs. Cook, for her leadership and dedication to our students! ❤️

The lights were glowing, the beats were dropping, and our BIG Mustangs showed everyone how to ROCK THE DANCE FLOOR! 💚💛🎶 Our 4th and 5th graders had an AMAZING time at the CTE Glow Dance, dancing with friends, showing off their moves, and making memories that will shine long after the lights go out! 🌟🕺💃

From glowing accessories to BIG smiles and plenty of dance moves, these Mustangs lit up the night! 😎🌈 It was a fantastic time filled with laughter, friendship, and Mustang spirit! ❤️🐎

Mrs. Arneson’s second grade Mustangs have officially wrapped up their unit on Earth’s Surface! 🌎🔬

They finished the week with special read-alouds of “Scribble Stones” and “Kindness Rocks,” combining science learning with an important lesson about kindness, positivity, and making a difference in the lives of others. ❤️🪨
