On October 1st, Mrs. Schlitzer’s Urban Ecology juniors from the Environmental Science Academy traveled to New York City to explore the High Line and Little Island. Students experienced firsthand how green spaces enhance urban environments and support biodiversity. Along the High Line, they observed the integration of nature into the city landscape, while at Little Island, they completed an ecological scavenger hunt. The trip provided a valuable opportunity to connect classroom concepts to real-world examples of urban ecology and sustainable city design.

Congratulations to Medical Science student Simran Marwaha, selected as the Northern Regional Vice-President for SkillsUSA! 🇺🇸

Simran is the first County Prep student to serve as a SkillsUSA national officer, representing an incredible milestone for both Simran and our school community. In this role, she’ll represent SkillsUSA students nationwide, participate in leadership events, and advocate for Career and Technical Education.

We’re also proud to recognize the guidance of SkillsUSA advisors Lauren Castagna and Shane Fessel, who help students grow their technical, leadership, and professional skills.

Paulina Sobolev and Aaliya Shah, who both graduated from Explore Middle School in June, are celebrating an impressive summer of academic achievement before beginning high school this fall.

During the summer, Paulina and Aaliya participated in the NJCU Summer Camp, where they explored Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). As part of the STEAM Academy Program at Kean University’s Jersey City campus, both students stood out for their hard work, curiosity, and dedication.

Their accomplishments included being named Valedictorian and Salutatorian of the program, as well as receiving awards in Statistics, Biology, Science Communication, and the “Mad Scientist” Award.

Their success throughout the program is a wonderful reflection of their commitment to learning and represents Explore Middle School and the Wolfpack community with pride. As they take the next step in their education, we congratulate Paulina and Aaliya on their well-deserved achievements and wish them continued success in high school! DG
