A few nights ago, Sedro-Woolley Police were dispatched to an injured owl in the city. They don't exactly cover owl first aid in our state academy. Nevertheless, Officers were able to get the grumpy owl secured and transported to a rehab facility for care.

Happy 10-4 Day, Good Buddy!

10/01/2026

With the change of the season, we once again find ourselves in the time of year when it is dark much later in the morning and earlier in the evening. Please take extra care to watch out for others on the roadway and in the skies. We have also heard that the wind and rain during this time of the year are wicked to fly in.

Please fly and drive safely!

📞Meet Echo, Skagit 911's non-emergency assistant! 🤖

There's a new voice you may hear when calling the Skagit 911 non-emergency line. Skagit 911 has been utilizing Echo for the past few months, but we just want to pass along a reminder and more info on how to use this and why it's important!

We understand that new technology and processes can be challenging and/or frustrating, however we appreciate your willingness to work with Echo's technology, as it allows Skagit 911 dispatchers to focus on urgent and life-threatening emergencies.

Echo, an automated voice assistant, gathers necessary info and relays it to Skagit 911 call takers and dispatchers, who then forward the information to the appropriate agency.

🚨 Remember: Echo is for non-emergency calls only. If you have an emergency, a crime is in progress, there is a fire or serious injury, or there is an immediate threat to people or property, please remember to call 911 immediately.

Our non-emergency phone number is 360-428-3211.

Last night around 1830, SWPD and SWFD were dispatched to a 3 car motor vehicle collision on HWY 20 between Metcalf St and Murdock St. Traffic was diverted off of HWY 20 as first responders worked the incident. A large number of people stood around and watched/filmed the scene. If you have video of the incident, we would like a copy of your video for evidence. Please call 360-428-3211 to speak with a Sedro-Woolley Officer.

When Officers and Firefighters arrived at the scene, one subject had obvious injuries. The other involved subjects reported soreness and bruising. Officers determined the cause vehicle attempted to pass other vehicles illegally and struck the other two vehicles involved. Officers found the injured party to be the causing party and that he was exhibiting signs of impairment. He later admitted alcohol use before the incident. The suspect was detained for DUI. While on scene, a Skagit 911 dispatcher reported a recently stolen vehicle from a business in Sedro-Woolley. As the dispatcher described the stolen vehicle, Officers recognized that stolen vehicle to be one of the involved vehicles on scene, which the injured suspect had driven. The suspect had stolen the vehicle just before causing the MVC.

The suspect was transported to a local ER for further care. The suspect was later transported again from that local ER for more advanced care. Two of the three vehicles involved were towed from the scene. The suspect was found to be from out of state and had criminal history in Florida, Tennessee, and Missouri. This was the first recorded contact in Skagit County.

Officers applied for and received a search warrant to retrieve blood evidence from the suspect. It was approved and served on the suspect. The suspect was not booked into jail because of his injuries. He will be referred to Skagit County Superior Court for taking a motor vehicle without permission and DUI.

We greatly appreciate the cooperation and coordination we get from SWFD. We also greatly appreciate the assistance from several citizens on scene before first responders arrived.
