🚨 Seligman Fire District (SFD), working alongside the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue, responded to a dangerous swift-water emergency involving a vehicle pinned against a tree in approximately four feet of fast-moving water.
The husband was swept downstream while attempting to help his wife but fortunately managed to reach shore about half a mile away. Meanwhile, Seligman firefighters successfully rescued the female occupant from the stranded vehicle. An Arizona DPS Ranger helicopter was requested but was canceled as it arrived overhead because firefighters had already completed the rescue.
The Yavapai County Search and Rescue Swift Water Team also arrived with their rescue boat. Working together with Seligman Fire, crews reached the stranded vehicle and successfully rescued seven dogs that were still trapped inside.
Thanks to everyone’s quick actions, courage, and teamwork, both people and all seven dogs made it out safely!
This successful rescue highlights the dedication of Seligman Fire District’s volunteer firefighters and the outstanding teamwork between emergency response agencies when lives are on the line.
