Sgt. Ludy had the honor of participating in the Special Olympics Texas Fall Classic as a Unified Partner with the Best Friends Softball Team this past weekend in Odessa.

Team Best Friends took home the Bronze Medal with a third place finish in tournament play.

This event, along with several fundraising efforts with the Texas Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics brings Law Enforcement partners and Special Olympics Athletes together for a common goal of unity and inclusiveness.

Well done Sgt. Ludy and congrats to team Best Friends on their accomplishments.

The Selma Police Department was proud to honor Sgt. Mena, Officer O'Leary, and Officer Junell with Life Saving Awards for their heroic actions in preventing a su***de attempt back in June of this year.

Sgt. Mena, Officer O'Leary, and Officer Junell were alerted to a subject in crisis who had scaled atop the flyover overpass under construction along IH-35 and was threatening to jump. The team spoke with the subject for several hours and with the assistance of members of the Alamo Area Metro SWAT Crisis Negotiations Unit, were able to convince the subject to move to a safer position. Once able, the team took the subject into custody and transported him to a medical facility for evaluation and treatment.

These officer's actions exemplify the highest standards of the Selma Police Department. Their professionalism, initiative, and commitment to preserving human life reflect great credit upon themselves and the department. Please join us in congratulating these officers on a job exceptionally done.
