Education freedom changed our family’s story. It’s why I keep fighting for other families to have the same opportunity.

Thank you to AFC Scholarship Fund for sharing our journey. Take a few minutes to watch. ❤️

Up to $3,400 for education freedom? 👀

The federal government has released proposed regulations for the new Education Freedom Tax Credit, giving us a much clearer picture of how this program will work when it begins in 2027.

Taxpayers will be able to make qualifying contributions to approved Scholarship Granting Organizations and receive a federal tax credit of up to $1,700 per individual or up to $3,400 for married couples filing jointly.

And Mississippi has already opted in.

Those contributions will help provide scholarships for eligible K through 12 students, giving more families access to educational opportunities that meet the needs of their children.

There is still more information to come, especially regarding Mississippi’s participating SGOs, and I’ll continue breaking it down as we learn more.

Save this. Share it with another Mississippi parent or taxpayer. And follow Mississippi Ready so you know what comes next.

Big education news for Mississippi 👀

Mississippi is now the 7th state approved for the “Returning Education to the States” waiver, giving our state more flexibility in how certain federal education dollars are used.

But for parents, the real question is: What will Mississippi do with that flexibility, and how will it impact our kids?

That’s what we’re watching.

Mississippi Ready hit the road today. 💙

In Gulfport, we sat down with families, listened to what they are facing, and helped them understand the education options available to them, how to access those options, and what their next steps can look like.

And this is what collaboration looks like.

Families. Community partners. Organizations. The Mississippi Department of Education. All coming to the table, sharing information, answering questions, and helping parents navigate what can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Our job is not to tell families what choice to make. It is to make sure they understand their choices, know how to access them, and feel equipped to make the decision that is right for their child and their family.

This is Mississippi Ready in action. And we are just getting started.

Konnichiwa from Japan! 🇯🇵

In many Japanese schools, students help clean their own classrooms and shared spaces, building responsibility, respect, and community along the way.

And with that, we’re wrapping up our little trip around the world. Three countries, three very different approaches to education, and one big reminder: there is more than one way to help kids learn and thrive. 🌎

Thanks for traveling with Mississippi Ready.

FIRE was definitely the right name. 🔥

So grateful to 50CAN for the opportunity to be a Cohort 4 FIRE Fellow, Families Invested in Reforming Education.

I learned a lot, met some incredible education freedom fighters from across the country, and left the fellowship even more fired up to keep doing this work in Mississippi.

Congratulations to cohort 4 FIRE fellows for recently completing their fellowship!

Made up of parents from across the country, this class of fellows spent the past several months learning new ways to raise their voices on behalf of students, and to bring those new skills back to their own communities to transform education.

Are you or anyone you know interested in being a part of our next cohort? Applications are open until October 2nd: 50can.org/fire

Bonjour from France! 🇫🇷

Did you know France takes a much more centralized approach to education, with the national government helping shape what students across the country learn?

Different country. Different system. Another reminder that education can look very different around the world. 🌎
