💛 **BIG NEWS FOR SEMINOLE EMS AND OUR COMMUNITY!** 💛

We are excited to announce that last week, the Seminole City Council approved Seminole EMS moving forward with the acquisition and installation of a **Safe Haven Baby Box!** 👶💛

Seminole resident Jamie Spears and EMS Chief Carly French have been working toward making this project a reality since January 2026, and we are thrilled to see the first major step completed!

While there is still plenty of work ahead, this is an incredible opportunity for our community to provide a safe, anonymous option for a parent in crisis to surrender their newborn.

**One day, this box could save a precious life.** ❤️

Now, we need our community's help to make this vision a reality!

Our next steps will include community fundraising efforts to cover the cost of the Baby Box, installation expenses, and ongoing monitoring costs. We know that Seminole is a community that steps up when it matters most, and we hope this project will be another example of what we can accomplish when we work together!

🤝 If you, your business, or your organization would like to help bring this project to life, please send us a message! Every contribution and partnership will help us get one step closer.
We are so excited about what this could mean for Seminole and the surrounding communities! Because every baby deserves a safe beginning, and every life is worth protecting. 💛

Stay tuned for updates, fundraising opportunities, and ways to get involved!

❤️ **WHERE DO THE PROCEEDS GO?**

This year, all profits will go toward **needed improvements and upgrades to our EMS station.**

Like any facility that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, our station experiences its fair share of wear and tear. While our operating budget prioritizes the essential needs of providing emergency medical services to our community, there are always facility improvements and projects that fall outside those funding priorities.

**These fundraisers help us take care of the station that serves as our crews' home away from home, while keeping our operational dollars focused on patient care and emergency response.**

We are incredibly grateful for a community that continues to support its first responders year after year!

🦃 **Great turkey. Great cause. Great community.**

Thank you for supporting Seminole EMS and the Seminole EMT Volunteer Association! ❤️🚑

Assistant Chief Tim Kent was invited back for the second year in a row to serve on a panel for the Emerging Leaders Track at the Texas EMS Alliance Conference!

Seminole EMS is incredibly blessed to have Chief Kent on our leadership team. He consistently invests in our people—mentoring, guiding, and helping develop the next generation of EMS leaders as they prepare to step up and into supervisory roles.

Leadership development doesn’t happen by accident. It takes someone willing to teach, mentor, challenge, and invest in others.

For many rural EMS agencies, limited staffing, funding, and organizational structure can make developing future leaders especially difficult. That makes intentional mentorship even more important.

Chief Kent has made that investment a priority, not only within Seminole EMS, but by sharing his experience with emerging leaders from across Texas.

We are proud to have him representing Seminole EMS and grateful for the leadership, knowledge, and dedication he brings to our service every day. He is truly an amazing asset to Seminole EMS!

What an incredible day for EMS history. 🚑

EMS leaders from across the South Plains EMS region are attending the Texas EMS Alliance Conference, and today we had the absolute honor of meeting Chief John Moon of Freedom House Ambulance Service.

For those who know the history of EMS, this was a truly special moment. Chief Moon was part of the groundbreaking Freedom House Ambulance Service—an organization that helped shape modern prehospital medicine and paved the way for the profession we know today. He is recognized as the first known paramedic to perform a prehospital endotracheal intubation.

To sit in the room and hear him tell his story—in his own words—was something we will not soon forget.

So much of what we do today exists because people like Chief Moon stepped into unknown territory, challenged what was possible, and proved that advanced medical care could begin long before a patient reached the hospital.

Today, we didn’t just hear a speaker. We had the privilege of meeting a living piece of EMS history.

What an honor. What a legacy. And what a reminder of how far this profession has come. ❤️🚑

🚨 TRAINING TODAY FOR THE EMERGENCIES OF TOMORROW! 🚨

Today, Seminole EMS, Seminole Volunteer Fire Department, Seminole Police Department, Gaines County Sheriff’s Office, Seagraves-Loop EMS, and Seminole Memorial Hospital District came together for a large-scale HAZMAT/MCI drill involving a motor vehicle crash with multiple patients.

During the exercise, a total of 13 mock patients were transported to our local hospital.

🔥 Fire crews were responsible for identifying and containing the hazardous material, extricating patients, and completing decontamination.

🚑 Once patients were decontaminated, EMS took over patient care, completed triage, established treatment priorities, and coordinated transportation.

🏥 Seminole Memorial Hospital District then put its emergency response plans to the test as patients began arriving.

The purpose of this drill was simple: STRESS THE SYSTEM. TEST THE PLAN. FIND THE GAPS. GET BETTER.

Exercises like this give every agency the opportunity to practice working together before the real emergency happens. All participating agencies did a great job, and we are incredibly fortunate in Seminole and Gaines County to have such a dedicated group of first responders who willingly give their time to train, improve, and better serve our community.

The exercise was also observed by RAC-B Hospital Preparedness Coordinator Ethan Winegarner, who will provide objective feedback on what went well and where we can improve. That outside perspective is an important part of making sure we continue to grow and strengthen our response capabilities.

A special THANK YOU to SISD, Bryan Ritchey, and the students who volunteered to serve as our mock patients! You helped make the scenario much more realistic and gave our responders an excellent training opportunity.

We train together because when the real call comes, we respond together. 🚒🚑🚓🏥

🚨 **DON’T PANIC—WE’RE JUST PRACTICING!** 🚨

This Saturday, Seminole EMS will join Seminole Memorial Hospital, Seminole Police Department, Seminole Fire Department, and other participating responders for an emergency preparedness drill.

So, if you notice:

🚑 Extra emergency vehicles moving around
🚓 Increased police activity
👀 First responders looking unusually serious
🏥 More activity than usual around the hospital

**THIS IS ONLY A DRILL.**

No, Seminole is not under attack.

No, the hospital has not been taken over.

And no, your cousin’s Facebook post asking, *“Anybody know what’s going on???”* is not an official news source. 😂

These exercises allow our local agencies to train together, identify potential problems before a real emergency occurs, and ensure everyone understands their role when it truly matters.

So, if you see us out and about Saturday, don’t worry—we know what’s happening.

For once, we’re just not going to tell Facebook every detail.

*Special thanks to Seminole PD for the inspiration behind this completely original post.* 😉
