In celebration of Red Ribbon Week, Sheriff Shepherd went to Coldwater Elementary School along with Det. Bryok and Sgt. Grace to speak to these future leaders about the dangers of drugs, making good decisions, and protecting their futures.

We would like to thank the staff for inviting us and the kids for their enthusiasm and attentiveness.

Sheriff Shepherd had the opportunity to attend the Faith Based and Community Partners Luncheon at the Clen Moore Head Start in Coldwater this morning.

Executive Director of ICS Head Start, Eloise McClinton, announced today that our very own local Head Start Director Phyllis Sanford had been chosen from among her peers (across 8 different states) to receive the Humanitarian Award for Region 4 Head Start.

The Mississippi Attorney General’s Office has reviewed the investigation into the officer-involved shooting on June 14, 2026, involving a Senatobia Police Department officer and has determined that the shooting was justified.

In Mississippi, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation investigates officer-involved shootings and submits its findings to the Attorney General’s Office for review. The Attorney General is Mississippi’s chief legal officer and serves as legal advisor to the State.

Great turnout yesterday at East Antioch Baptist Church for our community youth event!

Sheriff Shepherd spoke to the kids about standing up to peer pressure, avoiding drugs, and navigating the pressures of social media.

Three inmates volunteered to share their stories and encouraged those in attendance to do the right thing.

Sgt. Grace gave a demonstration of his K-9’s ability.

Thank you East Antioch Baptist Church for the invitation to be involved.

INFORMATION NEEDED – STRUCTURE FIRE INVESTIGATION

On September 26, 2026, at approximately 1:35 a.m., Senatobia Police officers responded to a structure fire in the area of South Front Street.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious, or has information that could assist investigators, is asked to contact the Senatobia Police Department at (662) 562-5643.

The Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s Office offers a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and arson conviction. See the attached flyer for additional contact information.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Claiborne County Sheriff's Office near Hermanville, MS.

Deputies were attempting to disperse a crowd in the parking lot of Michael Dean's Convenience Store around midnight when gunshots were directed toward the crowd.

A female bystander was shot and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A deputy was shot and transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the local District Attorney's Office and the Attorney General’s Office. This information is preliminary and subject to change.

The FBI is offering up to a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
