We're excited to share that $8.5 million is now available to dairy farmers and cooperatives through Round 2 of the New York State Dairy Modernization Grant Program! 🐮

The program, which is administered by the Farm and Food Growth Fund helps New York’s dairy farmers and agricultural marketing cooperatives expand on-farm milk storage capacity and supports projects that will improve the transportation and storage of milk, particularly during emergency events.

Last June, funding was awarded to 103 dairy farms and cooperatives across the state through the program. We encourage all eligible farmers to apply to this opportunity! Learn more about the program and how to apply here: https://www.ffgrowthfund.org/dairy-modernization

We’re officially two weeks out, and the energy is building for a full day of practical learning, hands‑on demos, and big‑picture soil health conversations at Rodman Lott & Son Farms!

We’re excited to welcome Rick Clark and Dr. Harold van Es as our keynote speakers. Rick brings a regenerative systems approach grounded in real farm experience, while Dr. van Es offers decades of soil science expertise focused on practical, data‑driven management. Their perspectives set the stage for a day built around learning you can take straight back to the farm.

The afternoon is all about hands‑on learning in the field, featuring:

Bio‑strip tillage plots
Manure comparison plots with a live grass injection demo
Neonicotinoid field talk

We’ll also have several equipment and technology displays on-site to support the day’s learning:

To create a greater understanding of practices occurring in today's agriculture, three agricultural operations in Seneca County are inviting the public to learn more about how farms are striving to remain profitable while being compatible with the environment and aid in efforts that benefit water quality.
The host farms are Peachey Farm, Citadel Ranch, and Wagner Vineyards. The tour topics will feature growing mushrooms commercially, prescribed rotational grazing and manure management, erosion control in vineyards, and a discussion about the costs associated with implementing water quality practices.
The tour concludes with a glass of w**e or b**r, appetizers, and dinner at The Ginny Lee Café at
Wagner Vineyards Estate Winery. Cost is $10 per person.
Those attending are encouraged to wear appropriate shoes for moderate walking on potentially uneven ground and bring a chair if needed for extended periods of standing. A map indicating the meeting locations and times for the tour will be provided by email prior to tour.
The host farms will be joined by Cornell Cooperative Extension Specialists from the
NWNY Dairy, Livestock and Field Crops Team,
Finger Lakes Grape Program,
