⚠️ Coyote Safety Reminder 🐺

The Sergeant Bluff Police Department has received reports of a coyote in the area of the Rec Center and walking trail.

Coyotes are generally not a threat to people and typically avoid human contact. There is no immediate safety concern, but we encourage everyone to remain aware of their surroundings.

A few safety reminders:

- 🐾 Keep your distance. Never approach or attempt to feed a coyote.

- 🐕 Keep pets leashed and supervise children.

- 🚶 Stay alert while using the walking trail.

Please be aware that law enforcement and animal control typically do not respond to routine coyote sightings when the animal is not posing a threat. Coyotes are part of our local wildlife and will generally move along on their own.

🎃 Happy October, Sergeant Bluff! 🎃

Officer Bones here, crawling out of the grave and reporting for duty! 💀🚓

The air is getting colder, the pumpkins are multiplying, and I’ve already heard a few skeletons rattling about town.

October is one of my favorite months—mostly because I finally get to fit in!

Have fun, enjoy the spooky season, and remember: don’t let your October be anything less than fang-tastic! 🦇🎃

Stay safe out there, Sergeant Bluff! — Officer Bones

IMPORTANT: All District Schools Closed Oct. 2 Due to Sewer Backup at the Primary Building

Please be advised that all district schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, October 2, due to a sewer backup at the primary school.

Because our district operates as an interconnected system we are closing all buildings district-wide. This decision is consistent with our past protocols, similar to a middle school incident a few years ago, ensuring a unified and safe approach across all campuses.

The health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff are always our top priorities. Facilities teams are already working alongside specialists to resolve the issue and thoroughly sanitize the impacted areas before we clear buildings for re-entry.

We anticipate reopening on Monday for our normal schedule following the completion and verification of these cleanup efforts. We will send an update by Friday afternoon.

High School Extracurricular Activities:

Please note that this facility closure will not impact scheduled high school extracurricular activities. Events such as the upcoming football game will proceed as planned, and individual sports teams and may schedule or hold practices as needed. Coaches and sponsors will reach out directly with any specific schedule adjustments or location details.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and cooperation as we prioritize a safe learning environment for our entire school community.
