🌎 Protect Our Water, Protect Our Community! 💧
Clean water starts with all of us. Small actions around our homes, businesses, and neighborhoods can make a big difference in preventing pollution and protecting our local waterways.
🌱 Pollution Prevention
Keep trash, chemicals, oils, and other pollutants out of streets, ditches, storm drains, and waterways. Remember, what goes into a storm drain can end up directly in our creeks and rivers.
💧 Protect Water Quality & Manage Stormwater
Stormwater runoff can carry sediment, fertilizer, pesticides, oil, pet waste, and other pollutants into local waterways. Help reduce runoff by keeping storm drains clear, using rain gardens or other natural drainage solutions, maintaining vegetation, and never dumping anything into a storm drain.
⚠️ Household & Yard Chemicals
Store household hazardous waste, automotive fluids, pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers safely and according to label instructions. Never pour chemicals, motor oil, antifreeze, or other fluids onto the ground, into a ditch, or down a storm drain. Dispose of these materials through approved collection or recycling programs whenever available.
🚨 Know It. Report It.
If you see an illicit connection or discharge, sanitary sewer seepage, chemical spill, oil release, unusual wastewater, or other potential pollution, report it to the appropriate local authority as soon as possible. When reporting, provide the location, date and time, what you observed, and photos if it is safe to do so. Do not put yourself in danger or come into contact with unknown substances.
Together, we can prevent pollution, protect our waterways, and keep our community clean and healthy. 🌿💦
See pollution? Speak up. Protect our water today for a cleaner tomorrow.
