🚧 NOW HIRING — STREETS & PARKS LABORER 🌳

The Village of Seville is accepting applications for a Full-Time Laborer with our Streets & Parks Department!

We’re looking for a dependable, hardworking individual who enjoys hands-on work and wants to help maintain and improve the community we call home.

What You’ll Do:
• Maintain Village streets, parks, grounds, sidewalks, and public property
• Mow, trim, landscape, and perform tree and brush maintenance
• Assist with road, ditch, asphalt, concrete, and other maintenance projects
• Operate trucks, mowers, tractors, and other equipment
• Perform snow and ice removal
• Maintain signs, park equipment, buildings, vehicles, and tools
• Assist with special projects, community events, and other Village needs

What We’re Looking For:
• Valid driver’s license
• Class B CDL, or ability to obtain one
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required turf/grass pesticide applicator license
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
• Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors year-round
• Dependable, hardworking, safety-minded, and able to work as part of a team

Experience in landscaping, construction, street or park maintenance, heavy equipment operation, snow removal, or similar work is preferred — but previous municipal experience is NOT required. We are willing to train the right candidate!

❄️ Please Note: This position participates in the Village’s year-round on-call rotation and requires availability for emergency call-outs, including nights, weekends, holidays, and severe weather events.

Bluecoats of Medina County Awards More Than $21,000 in Second Annual First Responder Grants:

MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio — Bluecoats of Medina County announced September 12th the recipients of its 2026 First Responder Grant Program, awarding more than $21,000 to seven local agencies and an additional contribution to support a nationally recognized veteran wellness initiative. Now in its second year, the program drew 23 applications — including 20 from first responder departments, two individual applicants, and one supporting organization.

The following agencies were selected for funding:

Lafayette Township Fire Department — Purchase of ballistic vests and helmets for personnel responding to active shooter incidents

Medina County Drug Task Force — Replacement of soft ballistic panels for three agents conducting narcotics enforcement operations

Medina County Juvenile Detention Center — Replacement of aging handheld metal detectors to strengthen facility security

Seville Police Department — Purchase of trauma plates to enhance officer ballistic protection

Seville-Guilford Fire & EMS Department — Structural firefighting boots and technical rescue/extrication gloves for newly hired firefighters

Valley City Fire Department — Purchase of a Sensit Gold Multi-Gas Detector for hazardous atmosphere response

Westfield Fire & Rescue District — Purchase of a Sensit Gold Multi-Gas Detector for gas leak and carbon monoxide emergencies

In addition, a generous private donor contributed funds on behalf of the Bluecoats to support Hives for Heroes, a program that uses beekeeping as a therapeutic tool to promote the wellness and recovery of first responders and military veterans.

"I was overwhelmed by the number and quality of applications we received this year," said Terry Pfleiderer, Board Chair of the Bluecoats of Medina County. "To better equip the men and women who keep the rest of us safe, is exactly the Bluecoats mission."

"When we reviewed these requests, it became clear that the need was real and the stakes were high," said Kathy Breitenbucher, Executive Director. "We didn't want to leave a firefighter without proper protective gear or an officer without body armor and have to live with the consequences. This program exists to make our community safer, and that's what we set out to do."

At this time, we ask residents not to inundate dispatch with calls regarding the outage, as it has already been reported and crews are responding.

Today, our hearts are heavy as we mourn the tragic loss of a member of the Rittman Police Department who was killed in the line of duty.

We extend our deepest condolences to the officer’s family, friends, and the entire Rittman Police Department as they face an unimaginable loss. We also keep those who responded and all law enforcement officers carrying on their duties in our thoughts and prayers.

We also hold in our hearts the family and loved ones of the victims whose lives were tragically lost in this incident.

May we never forget.

As we prepare for this upcoming weekend’s Annual Seville Community Yard Sale, the Seville Police Department would like to welcome both our residents and guests to another great community tradition. We hope everyone enjoys a fun, successful, and safe weekend connecting with neighbors, finding great deals, and supporting our local community.

As you prepare your yard sale setup, please take a moment to review the attached visual reminder regarding placement of signs, merchandise, and displays.

To help ensure safe travel and emergency access throughout the Village:
✅ Keep all yard sale signs, merchandise, tables, clothing racks, and displays OUT of the tree lawn/right-of-way area and placed behind the sidewalk on private property.
✅ Keep sidewalks clear and accessible for pedestrians.
✅ Follow all posted parking regulations and avoid parking in a manner that narrows travel lanes or blocks visibility.

These requirements are especially important to maintain safe passage for emergency vehicles should police, fire, or EMS need to respond quickly through our neighborhoods.

With everyone’s cooperation, we can make this an enjoyable and safe weekend for all.
