Public Service Announcement! We made a post a few months back about parking on gravel roads. We felt it important to remind you of that post!

If you must park your vehicle for any reason, please make sure it is as far off the roadway as is safe. Contact our non-emergency number (402-643-4578) and let us know where your vehicle is at, and make sure you have a plan to move it as soon as you can.

Nebraska State Statute provides that vehicles are considered abandoned if they are left unattended for longer than 24 hours on public property, unless legally parked. Seward County Sheriff’s Office policy states that we have the authority to have vehicles towed at the owner’s expense if we consider it to be a traffic hazard (i.e., parked partially or fully in the roadway, especially after the crest of a hill). Please take the time to give us a call to let us know your vehicle is not abandoned and that it will be moved as soon as possible. As always, drive safe!

This is a great reminder! Its important to drive safe not only for your safety, but the safety of others around you.

Good morning, Seward County! This week, we wanted to bring attention to overpasses, specifically those that go over Interstate 80. In case you haven't noticed, there are yellow advisory signs with a recommended safe maximum speed of 45mph. While these signs are not mandatory or legally enforceable, they are there as a safety suggestion. A lower speed would be safer due to the traffic that exits off of the Interstate. While it is the duty of off-coming traffic to stop at the end of the ramp, it is still the responsibility of all motorists to drive at a speed that is reasonable and prudent.

There is a lot of rain expected this week, so drive safe out there!
