🍂🎃 Fall Fun on the Farm! 🚜🐴
Our BBE students enjoyed a fantastic fall outing to Exley’s this week, filled with laughter, hands-on fun, and plenty of autumn adventures! 🧡
From exploring the sensory corn area and navigating the corn maze 🌽 to tossing pumpkins and visiting Jack and Jill the donkeys, there was something for everyone! Students also enjoyed hayrides, basketball, corn-on-the-cob toss, Kerplunk, and so many more games. Of course, no farm adventure would be complete without a snack break! 🍎
It was a wonderful day of sensory exploration, fun, friendship, and making memories together. We love seeing our students learning, laughing, and enjoying all that the season has to offer! 🍁

☕💙 A Visit to Together Café 2! 💙
We were excited to welcome HollyDell School to Together Café 2 for a visit filled with conversation, connection, and real-world learning! Our guests had the opportunity to hear directly from our student workers about their experiences and what makes working at GCSSSD so special.
Mikey shared his journey from being a student worker to graduating and being hired as an employee! 🙌 Emma talked about how much she enjoys working in the cafeteria, making salads, and learning to use the register at the café. 🥗☕
These conversations highlight the power of hands-on learning, meaningful work experiences, and the opportunities our programs provide for students to build confidence and prepare for life after graduation.
Thank you to HollyDell School for visiting and taking the time to learn from our amazing student workers! 💙

🍂🧡 Fall Fun, Sensory Play & Growing Together! 🍁

Our Early Intervention Program enjoyed a beautiful fall day filled with play, exploration, and connection during our Fall Play Day! 🍂

Little learners explored four fall-themed sensory bins, scooping, filling, dumping, and discovering fun items while practicing speech and language skills and interacting with children their own age. 🍁👐

The fun continued outside on the playground, where children and their parents joined EI providers for swinging, climbing, sliding, and plenty of smiles! 🛝

Families also enjoyed snacks and drinks together, giving children opportunities to socialize while parents connected and shared time with one another. 💛

It was a wonderful day celebrating learning through play, building connections, and making special memories together!

A big thank-you to all the families who joined us! We loved sharing this beautiful fall day with you! 🍂😊

👻🌭 Ghosts in a Blanket? Now THAT’S a boo-licious treat! 🎃
Ms. Deanna’s ADL students put a spooky spin on a classic favorite! 🧡🖤 Our students practiced setting up their hot dogs, wrapping them in croissant dough to create ghostly shapes, and adding eyes and mouths to bring their spooky snacks to life.
This hands-on Halloween activity was about more than just a tasty treat! Our students worked on important Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills while building independence, practicing coordination, and having some frightfully fun kitchen time. 👻🍴
The result? A whole lot of Halloween spirit wrapped up in one delicious activity! 🎃

🎃🔬 Pumpkin Predictions: Little Scientists at Work! 🧡
Our preschoolers in Molly Jackmuff’s classroom at BDC got hands-on with pumpkin science! 🍂
The students made predictions about what they would find inside white and orange pumpkins and whether each pumpkin would sink or float. Then it was time to test their theories! 💦 Both pumpkins floated, and when opened with help from adults, the students discovered that the inside of each pumpkin matched its outside color!
From exploring the squishy insides to separating seeds from the goo, our little scientists used their senses, made discoveries, and learned through hands-on exploration. They even created their own Jack-O’-Lanterns to display in the classroom and remember their pumpkin science adventure! 🎃✨
Who knew science could be this much fun? 🧡

🌿📸 Growing Creativity, One Photo at a Time! 📸🌿
Our Horticulture classes and Photography Club joined forces for a special trip to Longwood Gardens! 🌸🌱
From exploring beautiful gardens and discovering nature’s details to capturing stunning photos, students had the opportunity to connect their love of plants with their creativity behind the camera.
It was a wonderful day of hands-on learning, artistic expression, teamwork, and exploring the beauty of the natural world. 🌼📷
When horticulture and photography join classes, learning blooms in so many ways! 💚🌿

💙💛 CELEBRATING OUR STUDENTS: DOWN SYNDROME AWARENESS MONTH! 💛💙
October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and this week, we’re excited to spotlight one of our very own, Briela Garcia! 🌟
Meet Briela, a 3rd-grade student in Ms. Nadia’s class at the BDC! 💖 Briela is full of sparkle, sass, and personality! When you first meet her, she’ll greet you with a smile that is sure to brighten your day. ☀️
Our fashionista has a style all her own! 👠✨ In two years, we’ve seen an incredible collection of outfits—and not a single repeat! She brings her own flair wherever she goes, and we can already picture her making waves in the fashion world someday. 💃💕
But Briela’s beauty goes far beyond fashion. She is playful, compassionate, and caring, always eager to help others and take pride in her classroom jobs. She also loves exploring nature, especially searching for ladybugs 🐞 and butterflies 🦋! One of her favorite traditions is raising ladybugs in the classroom and releasing them into the world.
Outside of school, Briela enjoys helping her family at La Rancherita in Millville, a Mexican store created in her honor by her family. ❤️
Briela’s bright smile, caring heart, and fabulous sense of style make her a truly special part of our GCSSSD family. We can’t wait to see where her sparkle takes her!
Keep shining, Briela—the world is your runway! ✨💗
