It's that time of year!! Everyone is cutting into those pumpkins, digging out those slimy guts AND ready to save, roast and eat up those pumpkin seeds. If you need some insight or inspiration check out this great resource from our neighbors to the East. What is your favorite way to use roasted pumpkin seeds ... Leave in the comments! 🎃🥧

Carving this weekend? Here’s an easy way to rescue those seeds! 🎃 🌱

Drop the seeds and pulp in a bowl of water and work it gently with your hands. The seeds float and the pulp sinks. Strain, rinse, dry, and you’ve got a snack!

Quadarius Whitson, our extension instructor for culinary nutrition, says pumpkin seeds go way beyond roasting. Try them in salads, oatmeal, granola, muffins, or even pesto 😋

Prussic Acid poisoning is a serious and fatal condition affecting all cattle producers when grazing Johnsongrass or other types of Sorghum. Sudan-Sorghum Hybrids and Johnsongrass are often high in Prussic Acid and can kill a grazing cow often times quickly. We see spikes in Prussic Acid often after rains in drought conditions and after a frost. Here is a link to a recent Sunup TV show about Prussic and a link to our OSU Extension factsheet. Call the Pottawatomie County OSU Extension office to discuss testing and concerns. 405-273-7683 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4muBBlCZleg
