Today, Neighborhood Beat Officers Fickett and Meyer worked in partnership with Mr. Steen and several students from South High School for their Fall Service Day. We spent close to five hours painting over graffiti in two major areas, removing 17 large bags worth of garbage and removing graffiti along the boardwalk. This was physically demanding work and each of them did a great job helping clean up these areas to better our community, deter future potential crimes in those areas, and work as a team with local law enforcement. We greatly appreciated their focus and determination today!

Trick-or-treating for the City of Sheboygan will be held from 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Halloween, Saturday, October 31st. Participating homes should leave lights or decorations on during trick-or-treat hours. Residents should practice the following tips to ensure the safety of all participants:

Pedestrian Safety:

Add a reflective element to costumes or carry flashlights.

Always stick to sidewalks and cross at crosswalks.

Look both ways before crossing the street and avoid running.

Driver Safety :

Please reduce your speed in neighborhoods, especially during trick-or-treat hours.

Be extra alert and limit distractions while driving.

Be aware that costumes may be harder to see.

Let's work together to have a fun and safe evening!

Our patrol officers on each shift and our Street Crimes Unit have been relentlessly following up on the burglaries we posted about in the Veteran's Park area. This afternoon, through excellent policework and help from area residents, officers were able to identify and arrest a 23-year-old Sheboygan man at a south side apartment. This remains an active investigation.

We were also able to recover a significant amount of stolen property which included gasoline/fuel cans, Halloween decorations, gaming systems, a large wooden/decorative cactus, tools, and more. Some of these items were admittedly taken in unreported crimes.

We are attempting to identify the owners/victims for these items. Please understand that it may take a few days for us to work through associated processes.

Thank you!

***Update*** This subject has been arrested and our investigation is ongoing. Thank you all for your help!

***Update*** The police department continues to follow up on these investigations and we've received valuable images from privately-owned surveillance cameras. A photo of one suspect from these garage entries is now attached. If you recognize this person, please contact the Sheboygan Police Department at 920-459-3333 and reference case C26-19131. Thank you!

The neighborhoods near Veteran's Park (S. 24th St and Union Ave) on Sheboygan's south side have experienced several garage burglaries in September and October. Unknown suspects are forcing entry to garages and stealing gasoline/fuel containers. We are asking that area residents increase lighting in low-lit areas like alleys and around garages/sheds. Please report suspicious behaviors to police. We are continuing to collect/review evidence and neighbors will be seeing additional patrols in the area.

UPDATE: Suspects have been identified. Thank you, everyone, for your assistance.

We encourage exploring what the Sheboygan area has to offer. However, we ask that you only explore areas that are accessible to you. We recently learned a new word, "urbexing" which refers to a trend of accessing properties that are generally off limits - like construction sites, private property, municipal facilities, abandoned properties, etc., for entertainment purposes. This is often illegal and potentially dangerous.

SPD and our partners at the Sheboygan Sheriff's Department have had a string of calls recently, where trespassers are accessing private/off-limits properties to explore and are videoing their illegal "urbexing" adventures. If you can help us identify the involved subjects in the below photos, please contact Sheboygan Police at 920-459-3333 and reference case C26-17141.

Thank you!

Just like that ... the 3 year OVC Grant awarded to the Sheboygan Police Department focused on creating and establishing a strong program focused on crime victims is complete! 🥳

The Sheboygan Police Department was 1 of 8 agencies from across the U.S. selected to receive funds through the International Association for Chiefs of Police (IACP) in FY23. Throughout the 3 years, we were able to establish a baseline for a program, educate officers & partner agencies, host events & so much more! 🙌

THANK YOU to the community for the support, encouragement and trust we've received. Every small engagement we've shared is meaningful to us! THANK YOU to the International Association of Chiefs of Police for putting your confidence into Sheboygan while helping us figure it out along the way, and lastly THANK YOU to the City of Sheboygan for seeing the potential to make a lasting impact for victims of crime in our community!

The future is looking bright for Victim Services ✨
