Great work, Detective Helmick, and thank you for your dedication in assisting with these investigations. Over the past year, Detective Helmick has been responsible for the arrest of more than 50 individuals in similar cases, helping address an ongoing issue affecting communities throughout Ohio. Her professionalism, expertise, and commitment to justice have made a significant impact on the City of Sheffield Lake. As her final day with the City approaches on October 18, 2026, she will be greatly missed by her colleagues and the community she has served.

The missing girl has been located walking in Lorain by our partners, the Lorain Metro Park Rangers, who we called for assistance. Thanks to Lorain PD, Lorain Metro Parks, SRO Pool, and all of the citizens who helped us locate her.

From January 1 through October 8, 2026, officers of the Sheffield Lake Police Department handled 11,005 calls for service and police activities.

✅ 220 New Calls for Service
✅ 216 Traffic Complaints Investigated
✅ 213 Follow-Up Investigations
✅ 171 Welfare Checks
✅ 150 Animal Complaints
✅ 127 Juvenile Complaints
✅ 103 Alarm Calls
✅ 84 Ambulance Assists
✅ 70 Assists to Other Law Enforcement Agencies

Officers also investigated 74 traffic crashes, 64 fraud complaints, 59 thefts, and 57 domestic violence/dispute calls.

Morning,

There is a water leak at 5115 Lake Rd, please be aware and park your vehicles accordingly. Our water department, fire department, and police are coordinating with building staff to sort through the issue. If you live at this location water services will be disrupted.

First group learned a lot, two more training dates are set for October. All of our road officers will be doing 8 hours of defensive tactics as part of our annual training efforts.

Enjoyed our time with Sheffield Lake Police Department yesterday for some DT training! Great job guys

Good Afternoon,

Lorain County Public Health is in Sheffield Lake today wearing purple shirts and providing free NARCAN kits and overdose prevention education to residents.

A booth is set up in the Service Department parking lot, and representatives will be walking throughout the community until 4:00 p.m.

Residents with "No Trespassing" or "No Soliciting" signs posted will be skipped. Please note that this outreach is exempt from the Do Not Knock Registry.

If you are unable to obtain a free kit today but would like one, NARCAN kits may be requested by mail through Lorain County Public Health. The Sheffield Lake Police Department will also retain a limited supply of kits.

Sheffield Lake Community Outreach

Lorain County Public Health, in partnership with the City of Sheffield Lake, will be conducting a community naloxone distribution and opioid overdose awareness event.
