Supervisor Rick Stathakis

Today, we pause to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the countless heroes who answered the call in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

Please join us at 1:30 p.m. at the memorial outside Township Hall for our Patriot Day Prayer Service. The service will include the placement of a wreath, a moment of silence, and a siren salute as we honor and remember those whose lives were lost and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

May we never forget their courage, their sacrifice, and the lasting impact of September 11, 2001.

In recognition of Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month this September, Shelby Township is kicking off our 2nd annual toy drive for Wreck-It Like Beckett.

Throughout September and October, residents can donate new, unwrapped toys at collection boxes located at:

• Municipal Building
• Police Department
• Library
• Activities Center

Donated toys will be distributed around Christmas to pediatric cancer patients and their siblings. Siblings often face challenges and sacrifices that can go unseen, and this is a meaningful way for our community to show them some extra support.

If you have questions about donating, please contact the Supervisor's Office at 586-731-5154.

To learn more about Wreck-It Like Beckett, or if you or someone you know is facing childhood cancer, visit wreckitlikebeckett.org or contact Tammie at [email protected].

Thank you, Shelby Township, for helping us support children and families facing childhood cancer.

Jesus accomplished the work He came to do: to love, teach, forgive, and redeem. May you have time this Good Friday to reflect on this amazing love.

I'm always proud of my hometown, Shelby Township, but it's not every day a national publication confirms what we already know. Shelby Township was named a “Best Managed” community for 2025 by Business View Publishing:

“Shelby Township has been awarded one of the best managed communities because its leadership has mastered the balance of fiscal responsibility and visionary growth—holding tax rates steady for over a decade while investing in cutting-edge infrastructure, expanding green spaces, and attracting high-tech industries. This blend of economic strength, community pride, and forward-looking planning makes Shelby Township a model for municipalities nationwide.”

Congratulations to the township’s leadership, staff, and residents for setting the standard for excellence!
