💙 A BIG THANK YOU TO DUKE ENERGY! 💙

We are so grateful to Tammy and Dax from Duke Energy in Kings Mountain for their generous donation to Hope & Love Rescue Mission!

From hygiene bags for our residents to laundry detergent, deodorant, toiletries, floor cleaners, and other everyday essentials, these items make a real difference in the lives of the people we serve.

It’s through the kindness and generosity of community partners like Duke Energy that we can continue showing love, meeting needs, and reminding our residents that they are not forgotten.

Tammy and Dax, thank you for being a blessing to our mission and our residents! 💛

🎥 HOPE & LOVE LIVE — REWIND 💙💛

When I asked this mother about the greatest challenges of raising her children while living at Hope & Love Rescue Mission, her first answer was immediate and practical: “Income. Finances.”

But then she went deeper.

“Teaching DJ how to be a man.”

That answer stayed with me.

She's raising her children in a shelter surrounded primarily by women, doing her best to help her son understand what healthy manhood looks like. And like so many parents facing difficult circumstances, she sometimes wonders if she's getting it right.

Then she shared a moment from church when her son walked to the altar, and she heard something her heart desperately needed:

“You're doing something right.”

She admitted that she'd felt like a failure as a mother for a long time.

What a powerful reminder that homelessness isn't just about finances, housing, or the next meal. It's about mothers and fathers who want the very best for their children, even when life looks nothing like they hoped it would.

Sometimes hope looks like a little boy walking to an altar—and a mother realizing she hasn't failed him.

❤️ There's no wrong time for a fresh start.

On October 8, in anticipation of World Homeless Day, we spent 12 hours sharing stories, having conversations, and shining a light on homelessness right here in Cleveland County.

We are so very blessed, “Trail Life” Troop #2314 had an anonymous donor purchase 10 boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts and had them delivered to the mission. Thank you for your thoughtful donation.

What a wonderful night of Hope & Love! 💙💛

Last night, we gathered for our Love Never Fails Gala, and what a joy it was to spend the evening at First Baptist Church Kings Mountain surrounded by community partners, faithful supporters, and friends who have come to feel much more like family.

We celebrated stories of hope, the power of love, and the remarkable people who have helped make this ministry what it is today. We also had the privilege of recognizing some very special partners whose service has made a lasting difference.

🏆 Trailblazer Award — Dr. Jess Powell

Presented by Pastor Joey Hamrick, former Board Chair and current pastor of Carpenter's Grove Baptist Church, in recognition of Dr. Powell's steadfast leadership and perseverance through some of the mission's most challenging seasons.

🏆 Powerful Partner Award — Delta Sigma Theta Sorority

Recognizing their faithful partnership, generosity, and the love they have demonstrated to the women and children we serve.

🏆 Hope Builder Award — Stephen Williams

Honoring his dedication to helping our residents build the skills, confidence, and opportunities needed for a brighter future, bringing the power of his voice and passion, NCWorks, and Cleveland Community College to play right inside our doors!

More than anything, last night reminded us that Hope & Love isn't something we accomplish alone. It's something we become together.

To everyone who attended, volunteered, sponsored, gave, prayed, or simply stood alongside us—thank you. You are part of this story, and we are grateful beyond words.

There's no wrong time for a fresh start. And there's nothing quite like a community that makes those fresh starts possible.

Most importantly, we’ll be sharing stories of all the amazing things God has done over the past year and looking ahead with excitement and faith toward where He is leading us next.
