DEA NATIONAL PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK DAY

Shelley PD is hosting National Prescription Drug Take Back Day this Saturday, October 24, from 10 AM–2 PM!

📍 Behind the Shelley Police Department

Why does it matter?

📊 In 2023, nearly 8.6 million Americans reported misusing prescription opioids.

📊 More than one in four people who misused prescription pain relievers obtained them from a friend or relative.

📊 Since 2010, DEA Take Back events have collected more than 20 million pounds of unneeded medications nationwide!

Help keep unused medications out of the wrong hands and reduce the risk of misuse and accidental poisoning. Bring your old, unused, or unwanted prescription medications to be safely disposed of.

A safer home starts with a quick cleanout! 💙❤️

🚌🚨 SCHOOL BUS SAFETY: DON’T BE THAT DRIVER! 🚨🚌

We didn’t realize it but this week is National School Bus Safety Week!

Shelley PD has a quick reminder for all our drivers: A few seconds saved aren’t worth a child’s safety! 👮‍♂️

🛑 RED LIGHTS = STOP! When a school bus activates its red flashing lights, stop before reaching the bus—even if you’re traveling in the opposite direction! The exception is on highways with more than three lanes, where oncoming traffic isn’t required to stop.

🟡 YELLOW LIGHTS = SLOW DOWN! The bus is preparing to stop. Don’t speed up to beat it!

💸 PASSING A STOPPED SCHOOL BUS? Idaho law provides a $300 fine for a first offense, with increased penalties for repeat offenses.

👀 WATCH FOR KIDS! Slow down near schools and bus stops, stay off your phone, and be ready for children who may enter the roadway unexpectedly.

📚 Idaho Code:
• § 49-1422 — Passing a School Bus
• § 49-915 — School Bus Visual Signals

🚔 Help us keep Shelley’s kids safe. Stop for the bus. Watch for the kids. Get everyone home safely!

PUBLIC NOTICE – DOMINO’S PRANK CALLS

The Shelley Police Department has received multiple reports of phone calls from a male claiming to be a Domino’s employee. The caller has made allegations that food delivered to residents has been tampered with or that he has returned to residences where he previously made deliveries and engaged in inappropriate activities in the yard.

Officers are working with Domino’s to determine whether there is any validity to these claims. At this time, we have no information confirming that these allegations are legitimate, and the calls are believed to be prank calls.

We understand that receiving a call like this can be concerning. If you receive one of these calls, please do not provide personal information or engage with the caller. If you have a legitimate concern regarding a food delivery or suspicious activity at your residence, contact the Shelley Police Department.

We will provide additional information if circumstances change or if we determine that further action or public notification is necessary.
