In August 2026, Alfonso was promoted into the role of Program Manager for VC HEAL with our Ventura County Team. He leads a team dedicated to connecting individuals with training, employment opportunities, and resources that help them move forward. His focus is on developing his team, building strong partnerships, and turning program goals into meaningful outcomes for the communities we serve.

Director of Operational Excellence, Kelly Alesi, shares: โ€œAlfonso has done an outstanding job stepping into his new role. He quickly immersed himself in learning the contract requirements and has been proactive in identifying areas for improvement. His thoroughness, efficiency, and attention to detail have made a positive impact on the team and program operations.โ€

Alfonsoโ€™s favorite Career Team Core Value is โ€œWe provide an amazing VIP experience.โ€ He shared, โ€œI believe everyone who walks through our doors deserves to feel welcomed, respected, and heard. That experience starts with our team. When we support, coach, and empower one another, weโ€™re better equipped to make a meaningful difference for the people we serve.โ€

After years in leadership, coaching, and employee development, Alfonso says workforce development has given that experience a new sense of purpose: โ€œThereโ€™s something incredibly rewarding about seeing people discover their potential. At the end of the day, itโ€™s all about people.โ€

Fun fact: Alfonso can often memorize movie dialogue after watching a film just once, so thereโ€™s a good chance he has a movie quote ready for just about any situation! ๐ŸŽฌ
Thank you, Alfonso, for your leadership and dedication to our VIPs and your team!

After nearly a year as a chopper operator and more than a decade in the agriculture industry, JohnRoy found himself facing a layoff. Recognizing that the physical demands of agricultural work were becoming increasingly difficult, he saw this transition as an opportunity to pursue a new career path offering greater stability, growth, and long-term financial security.

After researching his options, JohnRoy identified the transportation industry as the best fit for his goals. He turned to our Team in Merced County and worked closely with his Career Advisor, Emely Ramos, to map out his next steps. With Emely's guidance, he secured funding for truck driving school and successfully completed his training, bringing him one step closer to his goal of driving over-the-road alongside his wife and cat.

His dedication delivered results. JohnRoy is now employed as an over-the-road truck driver with May Trucking, launching the career he envisioned. Reflecting on the speed of his journey, he shared that from the day he applied to the day he was handed the keys to his brand-new big rig, was just over 90 days!

JohnRoy's story shows how a challenging employment transition can become an opportunity for positive change. Through determination, career guidance, and dedicated workforce support, turned a layoff into a promising new career on the road. Congratulations JohnRoy!

Career Team was honored to take part in the Able SC 2026 Hire Me SC Employer Summit in Jenkinsville, SC.

The summit brought together employers, workforce professionals, and community partners to explore how organizations can build more inclusive hiring practices and expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities. A highlight of the event was โ€œKickinโ€™ it with Kimberly: Insights from Business Leaders with Able SC & Dominion Energy,โ€ a conversation between the CEO of Able SC and legal counsel from Dominion Energy that offered valuable perspectives on how businesses and community organizations can work together to create meaningful pathways to employment.

Our very own Matthew Hollingsworth, Enterprise Business Development Executive, had the pleasure of connecting with David Laird, VP and Chief Advancement Officer at Able SC, and Rohit Kale, Able SC Board Member and Executive at Michelin. We appreciated the opportunity to share how modern case management and labor exchange solutions can help agencies and partners better support job seekers and employers alike.
We extend our sincere gratitude to Able SC for hosting an impactful event, and to every leader who took the time to connect with our team.
