Our tree trimming contractors are making good progress so far and have a TON of wood chips to haul away. We've already delivered to the customers on our chips list and maxed them out.

If anyone between Duckabush Road and Hama Hama Oyster Co. would like some wood chips in the next few weeks, please call the office and ask to be put on the wood chips list with your name, number and address! (360) 877-5249. Our superintendent will reach out to you about delivery.

(If you live in other areas of PUD 1's electric system, you can still get on the list in case we're working in your area later on down the road.)

Thanks Economic Development Council of Mason County and Tiana for having Kristin on your podcast and for helping us celebrate Public Power Week!

Continuing our celebration of Public Power Week, MasonEDC had the chance to sit down with Kristin Masteller, General Manager of Mason County PUD No. 1, to talk about what public power looks like in some of Mason County’s most rural communities.

We dive into the important role electricity and water infrastructure play in supporting economic development, the challenges of serving communities along Hood Canal, planning for future growth, securing grant funding, and expanding broadband access.

And, of course, we couldn’t let Kristin leave without getting her side of one of Mason County’s greatest mysteries: What happened to PUD 2?

They will be on site for a few months working along Hwy 101 and SR 106 clearing the lines and also removing danger trees throughout the electrical system rights-of-way. This is our FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant-funded project that supports our Wildfire Mitigation Plan.

Thank you in advance for your patience and please drive safely through the work zones!
