It's that easy: Open curtains to let the sun warm your home during the day and close them at night to trap that heat inside. That way, your heater doesn't have to work as hard to keep the house a cozy temperature.

UPDATE 11:34 a.m.: Power restored!

UPDATE 9:10 AM: Crews estimate power will be restored around 1:30 p.m.

OUTAGE UPDATE 6:12 AM - Old Belfair Highway Area
As crews assessed the scene, they determined for safety, additional lines had to be de-energized, resulting in more customers losing power. Crews are working to restore power as safely and quickly as possible. No estimated restoration time is available yet.

OUTAGE UPDATE 5:45 AM - Emergency services has informed us that there is a large tree on power lines along Old Belfair Highway near State Route 300. Please avoid the area if possible. Crews are responding and will begin work as soon as it is safe to do so. Always assume downed power lines are energized and stay at least 100 feet away.

ORIGINAL POST: Our system has detected a power outage affecting approximately 410 customers in the Old Belfair Highway area.

Crews are being dispatched to investigate the cause and begin repairs. We don't have an estimated restoration time yet, but we'll share updates as soon as more information is available.

Thank you for your patience as our crews work to restore power safely!

It doesn't take a hero to save on your electric heating costs! As the temps get lower, consider lowering that thermostat when you leave the house by a few degrees. Or invest in a smart thermostat (we have rebates for that!) that can automatically adjust your temperature depending on the schedule you set.

Big shout-out to the Cascadia Virtual Lions Club for an amazing event recently: The Disc Golf Challenge. Sighted guides helped blind/low-vision disc golfers at PUD 3's Johns Prairie Course. Folks from the Christmas Village, Lions Club and PUD 3 volunteered.

As one of the organizers noted, it was a great opportunity for sighted folks to learn more about being blind/low vision - and knowledge is power! Wanna know how they could "see" the baskets? Helpers used whistles, white paper, and red flashing lights to guide them to the basket. Amazing!

The event was a fundraiser, and they generously shared a $1,000 check to our Project Share program, neighbors helping neighbors with their power bills.

THANK YOU to the Lions Club and all the volunteers who made it happen!

For this Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we are proud to announce that we have been named a Diamond Level (highest) designee in the new Cybersecurity Accelerator Program from the American Public Power Association! We work every day to keep the lights on and keep the broadband flowing, and that means staying vigilant to keep our networks and information safe, too. Congrats to our team members who worked so hard to achieve this recognition!
