What You Need to Know About Measles:
Measles is a highly contagious illness, but knowing the signs and how it spreads can help keep our families and community informed. ❤️
🤒 Symptoms to watch for:
• Fever
• Cough
• Runny nose
• Red, watery eyes
• A rash that usually starts on the face and spreads downward
🦠 How does measles spread?
Measles spreads through the air when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or breathes. It can spread very easily to people who are not protected.
💉 The best protection is vaccination.
The routine recommendation for the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine is:
• 1st dose: 12–15 months of age
• 2nd dose: 4–6 years of age

The Bullitt County Health Department is joining the National Earthquake Drill, "Shake Out 2026." Bullitt County's timeline has been filled with disasters of all types over the years, and YES we have even felt the effects of earthquakes here. Kentucky is a part of the New Madrid seismic zone. As of the date of this post, USGS and earthquake-tracking data confirm there have been 3-5 earthquakes in the last 7 days and 14-17 in the last 30 days. The closest to us was a M2.0 quake near Tipton, TN.

We want to encourage everyone to take a moment now to make a plan and discuss it with your family, especially young children, on what to do and how to stay safe during an earthquake.
