October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, support survivors, and remind our communities that no one should have to face domestic violence alone.

Recently, Compass Center for Families joined the Advocacy & Resource Center on Sheridan Media's Public Pulse to bring attention to the importance of community resources, advocacy, and supporting individuals and families experiencing difficult circumstances.

Creating safer, stronger communities takes all of us. By working together, sharing resources, and having these important conversations, we can help spread awareness, connect individuals and families with valuable resources, and remind those who may be struggling that support is available.

Thank you to the Advocacy & Resource Center for the incredible work you do and for inviting us to be part of this important conversation!

It's a BIG week for our Executive Director, Tifany Resser! 🎉

On Wednesday, Tifany officially graduated from Leadership Sheridan County! This is a huge accomplishment and a wonderful opportunity to grow as a leader, build meaningful connections, and strengthen relationships within our community. We are so proud of her dedication and all the hard work she put into this experience!

ANNND... today is Boss's Day! 💙

We couldn't let this week go by without celebrating the incredible leader we are so lucky to have at Compass Center for Families!

Tifany leads with a big heart, strong values, and an unwavering commitment to our mission. She creates an environment where everyone feels supported and encouraged to grow.

What makes Tifany so special is the genuine care she has for her team and the families we serve. She isn't afraid to tackle challenges, always makes time for others, and leads by example in everything she does. We're grateful to have someone who puts so much heart into making a difference in our communities.

💜 𝗦𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝘃𝗶𝘃𝗼𝗿𝘀.
Here’s what we’ve learned so far:
💜 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆. A victim may still communicate with or see an abuser while still experiencing very real fear or danger.
💜 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿. Abuse is often a pattern of behaviors used to gain or maintain power and control over another person.
💜 𝗠𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗺𝘀, 𝘁𝗼𝗼. Domestic violence can happen to anyone, regardless of gender.
💜 𝗔𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹. Financial abuse can create powerful barriers to independence and safety, especially in rural communities.
💜 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. The risk of violence can increase when an abusive partner feels they are losing control.
💜 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀. Supporting survivors and taking a stand against domestic violence can start simply by showing your community that you care.

The Chris is the Classroom Family Game Night is fun for everyone! The program has reached over 3 million people live. During this interactive event, Chris brings students on stage to solve crazy conflicts and compete in hilarious resilience-building challenges. Audiences of all ages will learn how to identify aggression, manage emotions and resolve social conflicts simply and easily.
