Looking up over this landscape, the eye wanders across seven layers spanning about 700 feet.....from a primary border, herbaceous beds, understory trees and a meadow brow, meadow in the center, savanna trees and the forest canopy .... oh and the skyscape

The Bower mixed border, accompanied by The Bower Theme

This year we have received routine showers and storms throughout. August and now September growth is robust.

Here is a bit of our Mixed Border, year three. Accented by exuberant liatris, zinnias and dahlias, the white clouds are a form of 5' high Thoroughwort (Eupatorium hyssopofolium) that we expect is a selection of some kind. The yellow is Showy Goldenrod (S. speciosa) which is proving to be lovely albeit very aggressive. The sublime light blue is Salvia azurea which hopefully will find itself distributed, via seed and starts, widely in 2027.

We are at that turning point where we are enjoying this seasons bounty and also beginning to plan, lift and divide and collect seed for next season.
