George J. Morin Post No 183, The American Legion, War Memorial Building, 8 Church Street, Shirley, MA 01464
Hosted by Mike Minogue for Governor, Free to attend
Nashoba Valley Medical Center closed on August 31, 2024. The towns around Ayer have gone more than two years now without their hospital and without the emergency room that served them for decades.
Join Mike Minogue and neighbors from across the Nashoba Valley for a roundtable and community forum about what that closure has meant here. This is a conversation rather than a speech. Residents, nurses and other former hospital staff, first responders, and town officials are all welcome to come and speak.
When Steward Health Care collapsed, Governor Healey used the state's eminent domain power to take St. Elizabeth's in Brighton and keep it open. She did not do the same for Nashoba Valley, saying the state had no operator lined up to run it. Nashoba Valley and Carney Hospital in Dorchester both closed that August. Mike thinks a community that loses its hospital deserves more than being told nothing could be done.
Doors open at 12:00 PM and the forum begins at 12:30 PM at the George J. Morin Post No 183, the American Legion War Memorial Building, 8 Church Street in Shirley. Free to attend. Please RSVP so we know how many chairs to set out.
