🔥 Increased Fire Danger This Weekend! 🔥

Recent rainfall has provided some much-needed moisture, but conditions are already drying back out. With a cold front expected to bring gusty winds this weekend, the risk of wildfires will increase across our area.

Shiro VFD encourages everyone to use extra caution with outdoor burning, equipment that may produce sparks, and any activities that could accidentally start a fire.

🚒 It only takes one spark! Please stay aware of changing conditions and help us keep our community safe.

Looking Ahead: wildfire danger is expected to increase across East & Central Texas as we approach the weekend.🔥

Gusty winds behind a cold front could raise the potential for wildfires.

Now is the time to make a plan and be prepared to follow directions from local officials.

8-15-2026 Working with Iola VFD on control burn training. Conditions fuel loads and weather conditions did not cooperate. However, getting together with other departments for training is a plus.

Temps are still high for the rest of the weekend into next week. Burn Ban is on. Please DO NOT BURN. Our fire departments are responding to fires that could have been prevented. If in doubt, call our local department for guidance. Thank you for being prudent.

Please note the exceptions in the GCEMC post. Please be careful, Dyer Mill was started by an unattended bbq pit. Thank y’all for your attention to this matter.

We appreciate Chief Smith and the S O for organizing this valuable training and were proud to participate. The majority of our firefighters have now been through this training. The bonds we create and the teamwork we train for is invaluable. We pray we never have to use this training for real, but we stand ready with our Law, EMS, and Fire partners.
