Thank you to the Village of Shorewood YMCA for inviting the Troy Fire Protection District to join in on the Halloween festivities!

We had a great time visiting with families, showing off the fire engine, and seeing all the awesome costumes! We had a few superheroes and even an extraterrestrial visitor stop by to see what it takes to be a firefighter. 👽🚒

We even had a candy-hungry bear hop behind the wheel of Engine 2241! He said he was responding to an emergency at Soldier Field, but unfortunately, saving the Chicago Bears was one emergency even we couldn’t handle. 🐻🏈😂

Thanks again to the YMCA for having us and to everyone who stopped by to say hello! We always enjoy getting out into the community and spending time with the families we serve.

At the monthly meeting of the Board of Trustees, Firefighter Caden Hennessy took his oath of office, officially becoming a sworn member of the Troy Fire Protection District.

Caden now begins a 12-month probationary period, during which he’ll continue developing his skills, gaining valuable experience, and learning from the firefighters and officers around him.

We’re excited to welcome Caden to the Troy Fire family and look forward to watching him grow as he begins this new chapter in his career.

Please join us in congratulating Firefighter Hennessy and wishing him success as he begins his journey with Troy Fire!

🔥 THANK YOU! 🔥

What an incredible turnout at today’s Troy Fire Protection District Open House!

We want to sincerely thank everyone who came out to spend the day with us. Seeing so many families, friends, and members of our community enjoying the station, meeting our crews, checking out the apparatus and displays, and taking part in all of the activities made the day a huge success.

A special thank you to all of the agencies, organizations, vendors, and community partners who joined us and helped make today possible. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Most importantly, thank you to our community for your continued support of the Troy Fire Protection District. We’re proud to serve you, and days like today remind us just how special this community is.

We hope everyone had as much fun as we did! 🚒❤️

🚨 Is Your Address Number Visible? 🚨

When you’ve lived at the same address for years, it’s easy to stop noticing your house numbers. But during an emergency, Fire/EMS and Police are actively looking for them to find you.

Take a minute today and look at your home from the street:

➡️ Are all of the numbers still there?
➡️ Are they large and easy to read from the roadway?
➡️ Are they clearly visible day and night?
➡️ Have trees, bushes, decorations, or other objects grown or been placed in front of them?

Seconds matter in an emergency. If you can’t easily see your address from the street, neither can we.
Take a few minutes today to make sure your address is clearly visible—so we can find your home quickly when you need us most.

Our crew stopped by the Shorewood-Troy Public Library to take part in their “Shorewood Reads!” series for National Library Card Sign-Up Month.

We picked out a few books, did a little reading, and apparently attracted some attention along the way…

Thanks to the library for having us and for always finding a fun way to bring the community together!

Twenty-five years ago, our nation was forever changed.

On September 11, 2001, we witnessed unimaginable loss, but we also witnessed extraordinary courage. Firefighters, police officers, first responders, and everyday Americans ran toward danger, helped strangers, and stood together when our country needed them most.

A quarter century later, an entire generation has grown up knowing September 11 only through the stories, photographs, and memories passed down to them. That makes our promise to Never Forget more important than ever.

We remember the 2,977 lives lost that day. We honor the 343 FDNY firefighters and all first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, as well as those who have since lost their lives to 9/11-related illnesses.

May we continue to tell their stories, honor their courage, and carry forward the unity, compassion, and service that emerged from one of our nation’s darkest days.

Did your home or business receive damage from the August 11 storm?
Please complete the Will County Storm Damage Survey at:

www.willcountyema.org/storm

Even if you have already reported damage to your insurance company, completing the survey helps local officials document the extent of storm damage across Will County and identify community needs.

Please note: This survey is not an application for financial assistance and does not replace contacting your insurance company.

For several days in July, the Troy Fire Protection District was proud to host a portion of the Firemanship 5-Day Conference, which brought firefighters from across the region together for a combination of lecture series and hands-on training (“HOT”) classes.

As part of the conference, Station 3 hosted “Developing Tactical Resilience,” an intensive 24-hour class presented by the Tactical Resiliency Training Cadre. Firefighters had the opportunity to train alongside one another, sharpen their skills, share knowledge, and work through challenging scenarios designed to build both tactical capability and resilience on the fireground.

Opportunities like these allow firefighters to learn from experienced instructors and from one another while continuing to improve the skills necessary to provide the highest level of service to our communities.

A sincere thank you to the Tactical Resiliency Training Cadre, the Firemanship organizers, participating departments, and everyone who helped make the training at Troy a success.
