🚒 FACT FRIDAY 🚒

Why can’t we just use our current budget?

Timber Mesa’s operating budget supports the services our community relies on every day, including:

🔥 Emergency response and apparatus

🔥 Firefighters, paramedics, and emergency medical services

🔥 Essential equipment and training

🔥 Daily station operations/maintenance

But what about major station renovations, facility replacements, and large equipment purchases? These are capital expenses, and they’re significantly different from the costs of everyday operations.

The District has identified approximately $25 million in capital needs that cannot be covered by the current operating budget without impacting existing emergency services.

That’s why Proposition 455 will appear on the November 3 ballot, giving voters the opportunity to decide whether to authorize bond funding for these improvements.

Our goal is to provide the facts so our community can make an informed decision.

Yesterday evening, at approximately 7:00 PM, the Heber community was impacted by a rare and powerful weather event as a possible tornado moved through the area, leaving significant damage in its wake.

Our district responded to assist with emergency operations, deploying Rescue 915, Rescue 917, Rescue 17, Engine 17, Fire 14, Fire 17, and Fire 19 to support response efforts alongside our neighboring agencies. Additionally, Fire 13, Fire 18, Pinetop Fire 11 and Battalion 11 responded to the dispatch center to assist with the overwhelming volume of 911 calls and emergency resource management.

As crews continue working throughout the area today, we want to extend our sincere appreciation to the numerous fire departments, law enforcement agencies, emergency personnel, and community members who have stepped up to help. We are especially grateful to the individuals and organizations providing meals, supplies, and support to the first responders working tirelessly in the affected areas.

As severe weather continues to move through our region, we encourage everyone to remain vigilant, stay informed of changing conditions, and take necessary precautions to keep themselves and their families safe.

Our thoughts are with the entire Heber community and everyone affected by this devastating event. We stand with you as response and recovery efforts continue. ❤️

Our Captain’s Academy recently took training outside the classroom with a hands-on dollhouse burn demonstration and thermal imaging camera (TIC) training!

Using a scaled-down structure, firefighters were able to observe fire behavior firsthand, including how heat and smoke travel throughout a building and how ventilation can influence fire conditions.

Through the use of thermal imaging cameras, they gained a different perspective on fire development, observing heat signatures and temperature differences that can help assess conditions and support informed decisions on the fireground.

This hands-on training reinforces the importance of understanding fire dynamics, recognizing changing conditions, and making sound tactical decisions to improve firefighter safety and operational effectiveness. 🔥

A little behind-the-scenes look at some of the fun we’ve been having with our community lately!

We had C-14 head over to Mountain Christian School to spend some time with an awesome group of kids! They learned about what firefighters do, got to check out our gear, and of course, got to see everyone’s favorite—the ladder truck! 🚒

We also got to welcome some students from Snowflake to our station! They got a tour of the station, an up-close look at our apparatus, and even got to try their hand at spraying some water!

We love opportunities like these to connect with our community, share a little about what we do, and hopefully inspire a few future firefighters along the way!

A big thank you to both groups for spending time with us! We had just as much fun as you did! ❤️

Please join us in congratulating Joby Roberts on his promotion to Captain! 🎉

Joby is one heck of a firefighter, an even better paramedic, and the kind of person you’re lucky to have on your crew.

Throughout his career, Joby has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to the fire service, a commitment to his community, and a genuine passion for taking care of others. Whether he’s responding to an emergency, caring for a patient, or supporting his fellow firefighters, Joby brings the knowledge, compassion, and work ethic that make a difference.

As he steps into this new leadership role, we have no doubt he’ll continue to lead by example, support his crew, and make a lasting impact on our department and community.

Joby, you’ve earned this, and we couldn’t be more excited to see you take on this next chapter! We’re proud to have you representing Timber Mesa!

Congratulations, Captain Roberts! 🚒👨🏻‍🚒

Our Station 13 Open House was a huge success, and we couldn’t have done it without our amazing community!

From exploring the fire trucks and meeting our crews to spraying the fire hose and getting a behind-the-scenes look at the station, it was a great day filled with fun, learning, and community connections!

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by, brought their families, asked questions, and spent time with us. We love having the opportunity to open our doors, share what we do, and connect with the people we proudly serve.

We also want to thank our firefighters, staff, Timber Mesa Auxiliary, and everyone who helped make this event possible!

Our community is what makes events like this so special. We hope everyone had as much fun as we did, and we can’t wait to do it again! 🚒❤️
