October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month 💜

Did you know that financial abuse is one of the most common and powerful forms of control in domestic violence?

Abusers often withhold money, limit access to bank accounts, sabotage jobs, or rack up debt in their partner’s name—keeping victims trapped and dependent.

At the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission, we believe that freedom includes financial freedom.

When women come through our doors, we walk alongside them as they rebuild—helping them find employment, create savings goals, and take practical steps toward independence.

Every dollar they save, every paycheck they earn, and every budget they create is a step closer to healing and a new life filled with hope.

Every survivor deserves a new beginning — one filled with peace, purpose, and the promise of Jeremiah 29:11.

There is safety here. There is hope here. There is freedom here.

If you or someone you love is in an unsafe situation, you don’t have to face it alone. There is hope and help.

It’s Boss’s Day and we couldn’t let it pass without celebrating two of the BEST!

Pastor Larry and Donna are so much more than our bosses. They are the heart behind everything we do, leading with faith, compassion, and a genuine love for Jesus and people.

They don’t just talk about serving others. They roll up their sleeves, love people right where they are, and lead by example every single day

Pastor Larry and Donna, thank you for leading with courage, humility, and a deep love for God and people. You remind us every day what it means to live out the Mission of Changing our Cities one Life at a Time.

Hope Starts Here. Healing Happens Here.

Homelessness is about more than not having a place to call home. For many of the men, women, and children who walk through our doors, the struggles go much deeper. Trauma, anxiety, depression, and feelings of hopelessness can leave people feeling broken, forgotten, and alone.

But at the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission, we believe no one is beyond hope, and no story is beyond God's power to redeem.

Through biblical counseling, life recovery classes, compassionate care, and a community that walks alongside them, our guests are finding more than a safe place to sleep. They're discovering hope, healing, and the strength to take their next steps forward.

We know healing doesn't happen overnight. But we also know that God is in the business of restoring lives, renewing minds, and making all things new.

Your past doesn't define you. Your struggles don't disqualify you. And your story isn't over.

👉 If you or someone you love is struggling, don’t wait another day. Hope and healing are possible. Our caring team is here for you—call us at (318) 227-2868.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month 💜

Did you know that 1 in 4 women in the United States have experienced severe physical violence at the hands of an intimate partner? Behind that statistic are real women — mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends — living in fear, often unsure where to turn for safety.

At the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission, we meet victims of domestic violence in their darkest hour. We believe no one should have to choose between living in danger and having nowhere to go. That's why our doors are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing immediate safety, shelter, and hope to those escaping dangerous situations.

Because everyone deserves to be safe. And everyone deserves hope.

Here, survivors find:
▪️ Immediate access to safety and shelter — we take no government funding so that means no waitlists, no red tape.
▪️ A caring community that listens, prays, and walks with them through healing.
▪️ Christ-centered recovery programs that restore identity, faith, and purpose.
▪️ Practical help like meals, clothing, counseling, and job readiness support — tools to rebuild a new life.

💜 If you or someone you know is trapped in an abusive situation, you don’t have to face it alone. Hope, help, and healing are waiting at the Mission.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month 💜

Sometimes leaving is only the first step. For women and children escaping domestic violence, the question quickly becomes: Where do I go? Where will I sleep? How will I feed my children? What happens next?

At the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission, we want survivors to know there is a safe place to turn.

Our doors are open to provide immediate shelter and compassionate care—without a waiting list or unnecessary barriers. But safety is just the beginning.

Here, women and children can receive:
➡️ Safe shelter, nutritious meals, clothing and essentials
➡️ Healthcare, counseling and case management support
➡️ Christ-centered Life Recovery programming
➡️ Resources and guidance to help rebuild stability and independence
➡️ A loving community that reminds them they are seen, valued and created by God with purpose

We don't want women to simply escape a dangerous situation. We want to walk alongside them as they heal, rebuild and step into a future filled with hope, freedom and purpose.

Because abuse does not get the final word. Jesus restores what has been broken and makes all things new.

This month, we remember those still trapped in silence and celebrate those finding freedom. You can be part of the hope. Pray. Give. Advocate. Together, with your prayers and support, we are changing our cities one life at a time.
