🌎 The Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill 🌎
🗓 Thursday, October 15 at 10:15 AM

Did you know that Shelby County is the most seismic area in the entire State of Ohio—having more earthquakes occur here than anywhere else in the state? The area around the Village of Anna is especially known for earthquake activity.

📚 In fact, the largest historic earthquake in Ohio was centered right here in Shelby County on March 9, 1937, with an estimated magnitude of 5.4 on the Richter scale. The earthquake devastated the Village of Anna, leaving the school building beyond repair.

👉 Remember:
DROP to the ground
COVER under a sturdy desk or table
HOLD ON until the shaking stops

The Sidney Department of Fire and Emergency Services is planning an Open House during Fire Prevention Week on October 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to help families learn more about fire safety and prevention.

The event will provide an opportunity for community members to meet firefighters, tour the fire station, and learn about the important work they do to keep our community safe. Visitors will have the chance to see fire trucks and equipment up close, learn about home fire safety, and receive helpful information about smoke alarms, fire escape plans, and other ways to prevent fires.

Firefighters will also be available to answer questions and share safety tips. We invite families and community members of all ages to join us for this special event. It will be a fun and educational way to celebrate Fire Prevention Week while learning how everyone can help make their homes and community safer.
