Today, on our weekly series with our partner agencies on HITS 105.5 FM, we had the privilege of featuring Emily Neu, Executive Director of The Mercy Mission House, who shared the remarkable impact her organization is having in our community.
The Mercy Mission House provides a beacon of hope for those in need, offering overnight and short-term emergency shelter, as well as a low-barrier emergency shelter that empowers residents to regain stability. Each resident receives a personalized plan tailored to their unique needs, focusing on stable income, mental health support, and permanent housing. By adopting a holistic approach, they equip residents for success in their next chapter. They can also accommodate families with the 3 family rooms they have.
Emily highlighted that the residents must be willing to work the program and obey the rules, including addressing any mental health disorders and substance abuse issues. Since its inception in February 2021, The Mercy Mission House has exemplified compassion, sharing its campus with the Alpha Community Center and Holy Angels Soup Kitchen.
The Mercy Mission House provides more than just a roof and basic necessities; it offers fellowship, rest, and a fresh start. It's essential to recognize that homelessness is not a choice, but a circumstance.
Emily expressed gratitude for the United Way's support, which has enabled them to bring the MMH to life and continue to provide 24/7 staff support. They have also expanded programming with the Transportation Department and the Extending Mercy in-home support program. The organization relies on community support - consider donating, volunteering, or providing household items.
You can support them through their "Ford Drive for Your Community Event" sponsored by Chesrown Ford on Oct. 10th, 2-5 pm, on the MMH campus, 950 Children's Home Rd.
