The Annual SMSS Pumpkin Coin Drive is HERE!

What a fun and creative way to support our community! During our annual Pumpkin Coin Drive, student council members decorate pumpkins, and students bring in coins to vote for their favorite design. Every coin counts, and a little friendly competition goes a long way in supporting Signal Mountain Social Services!

From October 26–30, students can show off their favorite pumpkins while helping make a difference for local families.

A big thank-you to our amazing school representatives, Allison at Thrasher Elementary and Heidi at Nolan Elementary, for collecting the coins and bringing them to the SMSS office. And a special shout-out to our wonderful board member and volunteer, Beth, who takes on the important job of taking all the coins to be counted!

We are so grateful to everyone who helps make this annual tradition a success, from the student artists to the students who participate and everyone who helps behind the scenes. Thank you for supporting SMSS and showing how even small contributions can make a BIG difference!

* Spaghetti sauce (cans preferred over glass jars)
* Hamburger Helper
* Mac & cheese

A SPOOKTACULAR Shout-Out To Our Amazing Volunteers!

We want to give a very special thank-you to Karen and Alan Vessels for going above and beyond to make Halloween extra special for our students through the Good Student Club!

Karen has spent countless hours preparing special Halloween treats for our 59 students. But it’s about so much more than candy and goodies! Each student received a Halloween card with a personal, handwritten message just for them. What a wonderful way to remind each student that they are seen, appreciated, and celebrated!

During fall break, students were invited to stop by the Signal Mountain Social Services office to pick out a special Halloween treat!

A big thank-you also goes to our wonderful volunteers who helped pack all these sweet treats. It takes a community of caring people to create these meaningful moments, and we are so grateful for every hour, every handwritten note, and every act of kindness.

It’s the little things that make a BIG difference! Thank you, Karen, Alan, Marie, Farrah and Van for helping make our students feel extra special this Halloween!

Building Digital Skills, One Class at a Time!

We’re proud to partner with Tech Goes Home to help bring digital literacy and technology skills to members of our community!

While we had a small class of three participants this session, we know that every opportunity to learn matters. Building confidence with technology can open doors to new opportunities, greater independence, and stronger connections.

A HUGE shout-out to Jami W. for teaching another Tech Goes Home session through Signal Mountain Social Services! Jami is knowledgeable, patient, and truly passionate about helping others learn. We are so grateful for the time and care she puts into making technology more accessible to our community.

Thank you to Tech Goes Home for partnering with us to help bridge the digital divide and empower individuals with the skills they need to navigate an increasingly digital world!

A huge thank-you to everyone who donated to our Love,Period. Of Chattanooga Period Product Drive! Your generosity means so much, and every donation helps make a difference for someone in our community.

Period products are a basic necessity, yet many individuals and families struggle to afford them. This is known as period poverty, when someone lacks reliable access to menstrual products and the resources needed to manage their period with dignity.

At Signal Mountain Social Services, we believe everyone deserves access to these essential products without having to choose between them and other basic needs.

Because of your kindness, we can help make these necessities more accessible to those who need them. Thank you for showing up for our community and reminding us that small acts of generosity can make a big difference!

Our Food Pantry shelves are running very low!

We could use your help restocking some much-needed items! While we are grateful for every donation, some pantry staples are donated less frequently, making them especially important to keep on our shelves.

Current needs:

* Paper towels
* Taco meal kits
* Muffin mix
* Spaghetti sauce
* Pancake mix

Every donation, big or small, helps us support local families in our community. If you’re shopping this week, consider picking up an extra item or two for our pantry. Your generosity makes a difference!

Thank you for helping us care for our neighbors!
