Today we paused to remember the many heroes that gave the supreme sacrifice twenty-five years ago. We are reminded of how those events brought our country together and just how precious our freedom is. Today we continue to see the aftereffects of the responders that worked at Ground Zero and are saddened by the sheer number of families that were affected by the loss of loved ones. That day forever changed our way of life and should always be a reminder of just how precious our freedom is. WRES is committed to the pledge made 2 1/2 decades ago to never forget!

WRES joins Tennessee and the rest of the world with a heavy heart due to the passing of Dolly Parton. Not only was Dolly an entertainer and actress, but she was also a philanthropist, always stepping up to support the people of East Tennessee. Make no mistake, Tuesday Tennessee lost a treasure. As we keep Dolly‘s family in our thoughts and prayers, we know that one of the best things about East Tennessee is gone. Through her actions, quick wit, and pure kindness, Dolly was mountain strong. Dolly Parton always lived life with no regrets. She always remembered where she came from and always took the opportunity to pay her success forward. God speed and thank you for leaving Tennessee better! As many have said since learning of her passing, Dolly, we will always love you!

For over 40 years, Jimmy Hillis has been that steady, reassuring voice guiding countless first responders. Whether it was a single emergency or a major, large-scale event in Hamilton County, his calm dispatching gave fire, EMS, and police unwavering confidence. With Jimmy on the radio, no one ever worried about a thing being overlooked—he was always in tune, always reliable. That calm, steady presence meant more than words can express. While Jimmy will continue leading us here as Chief of Waldens Ridge Emergency Service, we are honored to congratulate him on his retirement from Hamilton County 911 Emergency Communications District. Jimmy, your legacy of care will echo far beyond the radio. Congratulations, Chief! Enjoy this well-earned next chapter!
