Energy is a basic need, not a luxury. It is critical we call out a system where working families are asked to absorb rising costs while major corporations expand their energy use and infrastructure. Our message is simple: families should be able to heat their homes, keep the lights on, and put food on the table without being squeezed by ever-higher utility bills.

“These are things every family should be able to count on.” — Ana, Member, Progressive Maryland

Unreasonable rates. Impossible choices. When utility companies keep making massive investments while bills keep climbing, families pay the price. Kids losing a safe, stable place to sleep, do homework, and get ready for school should never be an option. Every dollar families lose to unaffordable utility bills is a dollar that could go toward food, rent, or their kids’ futures.

We need utility companies to stop treating families like an afterthought. Join us in holding BGE accountable, link to 10/21 campaign meeting: https://www.mobilize.us/progressivemaryland/event/1061547/

$58.5 million. One primary. Who’s really buying Maryland’s elections? 🤔

Corporate and super PAC spending is flooding Maryland politics, often without voters ever knowing where the money’s coming from. Independent expenditures exploded from $8 million in 2022 to $58.5 million in 2024. In the 2026 MD CD5 Democratic primary alone, $12 million from pro-Israel, pro-crypto, and other super PACs poured in behind a single candidate.

Join us for a panel at the Progressive Summit on what’s really driving these numbers, and the state legislative and grassroots remedies to take our democracy back. 🗳️

We took the fight straight into the room!!!

While BGE executives and regulators talked about the “future” of energy, we made sure they heard about the reality happening right now: bills are climbing, families are stretched thin, and utility companies are still asking for more. We disrupted the panel because people paying these bills deserve more than promises and industry talking points. They deserve affordable energy, accountability, and a system that puts people before profit. This is what it looks like when we refuse to be ignored.

If you’re with us, sign up to attend our Affordable Energy Now! Meeting on 10/21: https://www.mobilize.us/progressivemaryland/event/1061547/

Indigenous Peoples Day is more than a celebration of history. It is a call to confront the legacy of stolen land, forced displacement, and generations of injustice that Indigenous communities continue to resist. Indigenous peoples are not a thing of the past. They are here, leading movements, protecting their land, preserving their cultures, and fighting for sovereignty. Today and every day, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities because recognition without action is not justice. ✊🏽
