The Town of Simsbury will hold a brief remembrance on September 11th to honor, reflect, and grieve as we mark 25 years since that tragic day that changed our nation and our lives.

Town Manager Marc Nelson has invited Town staff and our colleagues at the Board of Education to gather at the Town Hall flagpoles for a brief moment of silence and remembrance. At this time, we are not planning formal remarks.

All first responders throughout the Town are invited to join us as we remember those who lost their lives that day, including many of their peers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

As is customary, the flags will be lowered to half-staff and will remain there throughout the day, in accordance with the appropriate presidential and gubernatorial directives.

On this solemn occasion, we are offering a place for everyone in our community to come together to pay their respects—a place where all are welcome.

I know many of us may prefer to remember that day privately, reflecting on where we were and what we experienced. But in our own way, we will all acknowledge the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, and remember the lives forever changed by that day.

For those wishing to attend, please join us at the Town Hall flagpole area shortly before 8:46 a.m., rain or shine.
