A big thank you to Hy-Vee and Stockton Towing for stepping up to help the City of Danbury earlier this week! When Danbury needed drinking water, Woodbury County Emergency Management reached out to Corporate Hy-Vee for assistance, and they came through by providing three pallets of water. Stockton Towing then helped ensure the water was delivered. We are grateful for the teamwork, and willingness to help our communities. Danbury Iowa City Hall

The strong northwest winds this afternoon through Friday will draw colder air into the region. As the winds become light Friday night, this cold air and clear skies will allow temperatures to fall into the 30s. This should bring the first widespread frost to most of the region Friday night, with a low-moderate potential for freezing temperatures near and east of I-29. If you still have sensitive vegetation outdoors you wish to save, you will want to take action to harvest or protect the plants as needed.

10/12/2026

One more day of summer-like warmth in southeast parts of the region today, but cooler days are ahead. Dry weather & lighter winds prevail through Wednesday. Rain spreads over the area Wednesday night into Thursday, with stronger northerly winds to end the work week.

10/09/2026

Warm & breezy conditions are expected through the weekend, especially Saturday when south winds could gust 30 to 40 mph. This will lead to Elevated Fire Danger in many areas, so please use caution to avoid sparking a grass or crop fire.
