Heiman Fire Equipment Equipment - Apparatus - Service | When Protection Means Everything Heiman Fire Equipment was founded in 1947 by Jack B. ft. With the addition of the 1,700 ft.

Heiman, and has been family-owned and operated locally ever since. Building on its modest beginnings of selling fire extinguishers to the local farming community in Ashton, IA, the company has evolved into a multi-faceted company with nationwide fire equipment sales, fire truck manufacturing, service, and refurbishments, plastics fabrication, and industrial sales and service. Heiman’s catalog sales are still based in Ashton, IA
Heiman Fire Equipment recently finished construction on a brand new manufacturing facility and office in Sioux Falls, SD. This 39,094 square foot, energy efficient building features a 27,332 sq. production area, two-story office, state of the art downdraft paint booth, indoor pump test tank, SCBA and electronics testing & diagnostic center, a truck delivery showroom, customer lounge, and much more. The new facility combines all three local divisions of Heiman Fire under one roof. Heiman Fire’s sister company, G3 Fire, which fabricates copolymer polypropylene tanks and products, is now housed in the former truck plant. Rosenbauer truck sales are currently managed in house as well. This allows for more efficient communication and workflow between all divisions of the company, and provides customers with knowledgeable staff during every phase of the purchasing process. showroom, fire departments are now able to take delivery of their new apparatus in-house and walk through each component with their sales reps within the comfort of the facility. Questions, demonstrations, and additions can be addressed and completed efficiently during this time. Innovation is reflected in every aspect of the building from the energy efficient, automatic LED lighting and radiant floor heating, to the 15,000 gallon in-floor pump test tank. A key new added feature is the downdraft paint booth which pulls paint overspray and contaminants downward and away from the painted object. This reduces the risk of dust and overspray contamination and provides a safer environment for the painter since the overspray is instantly pulled down and away. This also allows for a cleaner finish and less corrections after paint is dry. The building also features a two-story rock climbing wall, and a fitness room for employees.

Lithium-ion batteries don't belong in a field.

Recently, the Redfield Fire Department responded to what was initially reported as a corn field fire. Upon arrival and investigation, firefighters determined the point of origin was a discarded lithium-ion battery.

Thankfully, the fire spread toward the roadway rather than deeper into the field. Had conditions been slightly different, the outcome could have been much worse.

This serves as an important reminder that improperly discarded lithium-ion batteries can create serious fire hazards. Whether from tools, electronics, v**e devices, or other battery-powered equipment, these batteries should never be thrown into ditches, roadways, fields, or general trash.

Thank you to the Redfield firefighters for their quick response and investigation that helped prevent a potentially much larger incident.

Delivering for a department with deep roots in South Dakota history.

Today, the Yankton Rural Fire Protection District took delivery of a new Rosenbauer South Dakota-built two-door side-control apparatus, ready to serve the residents, farmers, and businesses throughout the rural areas surrounding Yankton.

As the oldest fire department in the Dakotas, Yankton's fire service history dates back to the first settlement established in what is now South Dakota along the Missouri River. That legacy of service continues today with equipment built to meet the demands of modern emergency response.

Thank you to the members of the Yankton Rural Fire Protection District for your trust in Heiman Fire Equipment, Rosenbauer South Dakota, and everyone involved in bringing this apparatus from the shop floor to the fireground.

Fireground testing doesn't happen in a lab.
During an apartment fire, Chief James Richey's Bullard helmet took a direct hit from a runaway hose nozzle. It's the kind of thing nobody plans for, but exactly the kind of moment your gear is built to handle.
We like stories like this because they cut through the marketing.
On paper, every helmet has features. On the fireground, all that matters is whether it protects you when things get western.

That's why Bullard continues to be trusted by firefighters across our region. Proven gear, built for the realities of the job. When the day takes a turn, that's when you find out what your equipment is really made of.
