Sioux Falls Downtown Rotary The oldest & largest Rotary Club in SD. We engage members through service, education & fellowship.

Downtown Rotary is the oldest and largest Rotary Club in South Dakota. It was started on July 1, 1915, at the Cataract Hotel by 42 business leaders who wished to have a place to socialize weekly. They were introduced to the new International Rotary organization started by Paul Harris in Chicago in 1905. After realizing they had the same business ethics and standards as Rotary International, they joined Rotary International and formed the "Sioux Falls Rotary Chapter". Rotary International is the world’s premier service organization; the Sioux Falls downtown club is among the 25 largest Rotary Clubs in the world!

Where is South Dakota’s next generation of cyber talent being built? Earlier this month, Downtown Rotarians got an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Dakota State University’s Applied Research Lab in Sioux Falls.

Inside, researchers, students, government agencies, and industry partners are working side by side on emerging technology challenges, cybersecurity, and workforce development. The facility was designed as a shared hub for collaboration, with leasable space for organizations whose missions align with the state’s growing tech and research ecosystem.

Thank you to DSU and DARC for opening your doors and showing us how innovation is taking shape right here in our community. 💻🔐

Thank you to Everett Palmer, Rudy N., and Nikki Schoffelman of the Wo’okiye Program for sharing 24 Hours on 8th Street with Downtown Rotary this week, an honest look at homelessness in Sioux Falls and the people working to close the gaps.

Great program at Downtown Rotary this week.

For more than 35 years, the F-16s of the 114th Fighter Wing have been a familiar sight over Sioux Falls and a real point of pride. Now there's a national competition to bring the F-35 to existing Air Force fighter wings, and State of South Dakota is making its case.

Thanks to Rotarian Steve Watson for moderating, and to SD National Guard Adjutant Mark Morrell and Mitch Rave of the Sioux Falls Chamber for walking us through what's at stake and how local business and civic leaders can help.

We also had the privilege of having our District Governor Mike Gibson give a welcome message and exchange Rotary flags with our President Ryan Martin.

The ask is simple. Before December 1, send a letter to our congressional delegation supporting the 114th for F-35 selection. Then stay engaged, because advocacy runs all the way to the final decision in mid-2027.

We would like to welcome Amy Hoback to Downtown Sioux Falls Rotary.

Amy owns Kleen-Rite, a full-service commercial cleaning company here in Sioux Falls, and she's also a health coach with Yoli Global. Two different worlds, same instinct: help people and businesses run a little cleaner and a little healthier.

Glad you're here, Amy.

Congressman Dusty Johnson joined Downtown Rotary for a wide-ranging conversation on his time in Washington, moderated by Rotarian Laura Mitchell. He talked through his top accomplishments in office, his advisory role with Speaker Mike Johnson, and something not many people can speak to firsthand: what it's actually been like serving through three different presidential administrations.

He also gave us a preview of what's still ahead before the year is out.

Thanks for making the time, Congressman. And thanks to Laura for steering a great conversation.
