Mrs. Valerio and Mrs. Van Voorst exemplify integrity, innovation, and community through their leadership and dedication to the Horizon SPED department. They consistently step up to support their colleagues, lead the team, assist with assessments, and do whatever is needed to ensure our students receive high-quality services. They approach challenges with a solutions-focused mindset, collaborate to strengthen our practices, and willingly share their time and expertise to help others succeed. Their commitment goes far beyond their individual responsibilities, and their willingness to lead, support, and problem-solve makes our SPED team stronger and more effective. They truly embody what it means to put students first, support one another, and make our entire school community better.

Mr. Sanne consistently demonstrates integrity and dedication by showing up, stepping up, and following through—even when he doesn’t have to. He understands that his presence matters to his students, and he makes the choice to be there because he knows they are counting on him. He works hard, keeps his commitments, and leads by example through his actions. His dependability and strong work ethic make a difference, and his students and H-Team are better because of the commitment he brings every day!

He takes initiative and gets things done without being asked! Whether setting up the gym for assemblies, ensuring classes are covered, or playing music to welcome students in the morning. Mr. Walker sets students up to be fit for life. He comes up with fun, innovative games that keep everyone excited and engaged. He shows up, steps up, and makes great things happen. Ms. Dahl is a shining example of core values. She demonstrates integrity through her dependability, willingness to step up when others are absent, and commitment to doing what is right. She is someone others can count on to support the team, fill in where needed, and keep things moving forward. Even when negativity creeps in, she chooses to encourage others, maintain a positive perspective, and stand up for what is right. Her actions reflect strong character and make her a valuable and trusted member of our H-Team!
