Officials used to tag them with stickers, but those were hard to find. This is the second year officials have used radio tags, which can be tracked with cell phones.

Turn on those apps! 30 monarchs were tagged and released today from Good Earth State Park. Turn on your Project Monarch app to scan for the monarchs. Other radio tagged butterflies are moving in from other areas as well!

After the butterflies are tagged YOU can help scientists track their migration by using your cell phone with the app. There will be an annoucement once they are released in the next week or so.
