Haley Miller from R.F. Pettigrew Elementary used her $250 First Time Teacher Grant from the Education Foundation to purchase anchor chart paper, books, dry-erase sticker dots, flashlights, pouches, scarves, and scratch-off stickers! Haley said the new tools will make a big difference for her English Learner (EL) students as they practice and grow their language skills!

🐾 Week in Ten! 🐾
Wow! Every week just keeps getting better at Pettigrew! From practicing our safety procedures during our first lockdown drill of the year (the kids did GREAT!) to Kindergarten’s exciting trip to the Butterfly House, there was so much happening around our school!
Students in 202 kicked off some FLASHLIGHT READING time!
And, of course, we had the AMAZING FOOD SCRAMBLE!
So many great moments, learning experiences, and memories made this week!
Ask your child about their favorite part of the week! We can’t wait to see what next week brings!

Week in Ten! RHS/Pettigrew Homecoming Week was a HUGE success! From fun dress-up days and school spirit to lots of Panther pride, our students and staff made the week one to remember! And what better way to round out the festivities than with a special visit from the RHS Homecoming Royalty! The Pettigrew Elementary Library was awarded the School Achievement Through Libraries
(SATL) Award for 2026-2029 by the South Dakota State Library.
This award honors the outstanding work of our school librarian Mrs. Ulvestad, with strong support from our school principal Mr. Wagner.
The SATL Award recognizes school libraries that make a significant impact on student learning and school culture.

Pettigrew CLC artistry will be hitting the streets this winter!
Our Pettigrew CLC students recently had the opportunity to paint a winning design on one of our city snowplows! They put their creativity to work, and now their artwork will be rolling through the community all winter long.

Keep your eyes peeled for this special Panther plow when the snow starts flying!

Shout out to Mrs. Euchner!

The Education Foundation awarded a $250 Replenish the Room Grant to Kim Euchner from R.F. Pettigrew Elementary, and she purchased phoneme sound boxes, “My Sounds” phoneme set, reading rods, word family builders, and advancing phonics teaching tools. Kim said these materials will give her resource room students the opportunity to increase their reading skills with hands-on materials!
