The Uihliens have been a part of Tiffany's world for a long time and they have no regard for rules as this article shows.
I grew up in Presque Isle, and Manitowish Waters was one of the four towns which made up our elementary school. The Uihliens are a double edge sword family, coming into the area after I left for college, but while my parents lived up there.
They are pure FIBs, using money to get what they want. They provided 2.5 million to pave a bike trail that runs from Manitowish Waters to our elementary school and then on to Boulder Junction, which then connects to another paved trail system. (The whole trail system, not just their section, is a beatiful and fun ride network that is a real hidden gem for the silent sports fan--along with the warming hut they built on a popular cross country ski trail behind our elementary school.) But, the dark side is they provide all this, while doing what they want, ignoring the DNR, and then finding weak willed politicians to change the rules for them. Uihliens are like Trump, they don't know the word No, and Tiffany is their lackey while the Republican party is the recipient of their money. As my grandmother used to say, that purse will have many strings attached.
I can guarantee the reason why Tiffany wants to divide the DNR into regulation and wildlife is to make it easier for people like the Uihliens to break the rules by removing regulation from scientific study, lands, etc., which on the surface may sound good, but then it becomes harder for the studies, lands, etc. to be an active part in determining needed regulations. (The next step will be to seperate hunting and fishing from studies and lands and silently hinting it is for second amendment rights.)This makes it easier to buy a politician to change the rules, as Tiffany has, while the scientific studies and lands side can be ignored as "studies" and not fact-- removeable regulations that can be seperated from science to then sound unfair to the uneducated and slippery Uihlien types with too much money and a "yes man" politician in their pocket who is too stupid to know he is being played and bought, while selling out the North.
Duke Tucker is his twin in my opinion, and cutting the county board from 21 to 15 is the start--along with Tucker's views on the DNR and Crex. If you value Wisconsin, you cannot vote for Tiffany or Duke Tucker they will both sell us out, and ruin the North for profit because they are too stupid, or weak willed for money and perceived power, to know they are being played by the rich.
I've watched this my whole life being from Vilas county. The FIBs would come up with more money than brains, put boats with motors big enough for Lake Gogebic on a fishing lake (the equivalent of wake boats today on your fishing lakes here), shoot the local fox because they had a gun, shoot woodpeckers and sap suckers, and other birds because they were "hurting the trees or hogging the bird feeders." These people are loud and arrogant. Most, locals, took their money while counting the days for summer to be over. Others, like Tiffany, thought they were rubbing elbows with the nouveau riche (vs vieux riche who still had three season cabins and didn't throw their money around) and would do anything to get noticed including selling out their neighbors. That is Tiffany, and in my opinion what Duke Tucker will do with a second term in the assembly.
Billionaire donors Richard and Elizabeth Uihlein have had a special relationship with Tom Tiffany since he was a state legislator
