🎉 Join Us for National Night Out 2026! 🚓🚒🍦

The Roberts County area law enforcement agencies and SD Hwy Patrol are excited to invite everyone to our 2026 National Night Out, and we can't wait to spend another great evening with the communities we proudly serve!

📅 Tuesday, August 4, 2026
🕓 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
📍 Drenttel Park – Sisseton, SD (located behinds Stillson's Service)

For the past two years, nearly 1,000 community members have joined us for National Night Out, making it one of our favorite events of the year. It's an opportunity to step away from the emergency calls and everyday responsibilities to simply spend time with the people we serve.

🌭 What's New This Year?

We've added a few exciting activities that we think everyone will enjoy!

🏆 Law Enforcement Hot Dog Eating Contest
Watch teams from the Roberts County Sheriff's Office, Sisseton Police Department, SWO Tribal Police, and other first responders battle it out to see who can eat the most hot dogs in five minutes. Bragging rights are definitely on the line!

🔍 Kids' Scavenger Hunt
Children will travel throughout the park collecting special items from our first responders. Once they complete the scavenger hunt, they'll earn a FREE ice cream cone! Along the way, they'll have the chance to meet deputies, police officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and many of our community partners.

🌭 Free Food
We'll once again be serving hot dogs—with even more toppings this year, including chili, cheese, and sauerkraut!

🚓 Emergency Vehicles & Equipment
Get up close with patrol vehicles, fire trucks, emergency equipment, and demonstrations from the men and women who protect our communities every day.

🤝 Thank You to Our Partners

National Night Out wouldn't be possible without the incredible partnership between the Roberts County Sheriff's Office, SD Highway Patrol, Sisseton Police Department, Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribal Police Department, our local fire departments, EMS, community organizations, volunteers, and the many businesses and sponsors that generously support this event each year.

Your commitment to our communities is what makes this event such a tremendous success.

🚨 FLOODING ALERT – ROBERTS COUNTY 🚨
Date: Friday the 13th – June 2025

As of 5:00 AM, the National Weather Service has placed much of Roberts County—including the Sisseton and Peever areas—under a Flood Warning due to over 5 inches of fast-falling rain overnight.

⚠️ WIDESPREAD FLOODING has been reported throughout the county, including along I-29 near mile marker 221. Numerous roads are impassable, and many others may appear safe but have unknown structural integrity due to rapidly moving water.

➡️ If you encounter a flooded roadway:

Turn Around, Don’t Drown – It’s not worth the risk.

Even shallow water can sweep a vehicle off the road.

Nighttime or low visibility makes these hazards even more dangerous.

📞 Our Dispatch Center is actively taking calls and logging road conditions as reported by the public. This information is helping us prioritize and direct our emergency response resources efficiently.

📸 If you come across flooded roads, please DO NOT attempt to cross.
Instead:

Snap a photo from a safe location

Include the nearest road name or intersection

Post it in the comments below to help keep others safe

🛠️ Also — check your sump pumps and be on the lookout for rising water in basements or low-lying areas.

And of course... what would a weather emergency be without a little irony — Yes, it’s Friday the 13th. Let’s not push our luck. Stay safe, stay smart, and stay dry.

— Roberts County Sheriff’s Office

🚨 Help Us Help You: Ensure Your Address is Clearly Visible! 🚨

Your house number isn’t just for mail, it’s a critical part of emergency response! When seconds count, having a clearly visible address can make all the difference for law enforcement, firefighters, and EMS trying to locate you.

✅ Why It Matters:
🔹 Helps first responders find you faster in an emergency.
🔹 Ensures accurate deliveries and service calls.
🔹 Assists law enforcement in responding to calls efficiently.

🔎 How to Make Sure Your Address is Visible:
✔️ Use large, reflective numbers that can be seen day or night.
✔️ Place numbers near the roadway and on your house.
✔️ Keep trees, bushes, and decorations from blocking your address.
✔️ Ensure numbers contrast with the background for easy readability.

👮‍♂️ A simple fix today could save a life tomorrow! If your address isn’t easily seen from the street, take a few minutes to improve it because it could make all the difference when you need help the most.

ℹ️ Questions? Need guidance on address placement? Contact the Roberts County Sheriff’s Office! We’re here to help.
