Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 2

10/06/2026

Late last evening, your local Montgomery and Rocky Hill fire companies were alerted to a reported smoke condition within a residence on County Route 601.

Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire from the rear of the home and immediately placed multiple attack lines in service to keep the fire from spreading to the upstairs bedrooms. Searches were performed to ensure all occupants were accounted for and the building was ventilated as crews progressed through the structure.

Members remained on scene for an extended period of time for overhaul operations due to the number of void spaces encountered during the incident, and the scene was turned over to the Bureau of Fire Prevention.

Many thanks to our EMS and mutual aid partners for their tremendous help throughout the incident.

Remember, our fire company is comprised of your friends, family and neighbors. We're always looking for new members to join, so stop by the station on County Route 518 any Wednesday at 7pm to learn more!

Last week, on Tuesday, September 1st at approximately 8:30pm, Montgomery Twp. Vol. Fire Co. No. 1 and Montgomery Twp. Vol. Fire Co. No. 2, alongside Rocky Hill Fire Dept. were dispatched to the Meadows at Montgomery for a reported smoke condition within the building.

While responding, additional 9-1-1 callers reported visible smoke and fire coming from vents along the exterior of the building, upgrading the incident to a 1st Alarm Structure Fire.

Crews stretched attack lines to the interior of the affected apartment and pulled ceilings to knock down all visible fire. Additional openings were made along the exterior of the building to ensure that fire didn't spread behind the point of origin, while crews secured the gas and electric utilities to the unit.

The building was ventilated, most units were able to be re-occupied, and the Bureau of Fire Prevention performed their investigation. All crews were released from scene right before 11pm.

Many thanks to our mutual aid companies for their support on scene and back at station, along with everyone's patience on scene while we worked to get the situation under control.

REMEMBER: If you're ever interested in learning more about our department and the possibility of joining the ranks as a firefighter, make sure to stop by the firehouse on Route 518 any Wednesday at 7pm!

On Sunday, December 21st, just when Santa was preparing to hit the road to deliver gifts, Somerset County Communications dispatched Stations 46 and 53 (Rocky Hill) to a Fire Alarm on Crescent Ave in Rocky Hill Borough. Due to Operation Santa prepping for the day, in house crews responded immediately with Engine 46-8, Truck 46 and Deputy Chief 46. Upon arrival crews located a fire in one of the buildings of the complex. Chief 53 upgraded the assignment to a first alarm on Box 53-01, bringing multiple mutual aid companies to the scene and to cover our firehouse. The fire was quickly brought under control by first arriving units.

Station 46 responded to an additional call during the day for an Overturned Motor Vehicle. A busy day for Station 46 and a successful Operation Santa.
